Gallery Our Opinion - 2022 Honda Insight Review If you’re in the market for a compact sedan, look no further than the Honda Insight. The Civic’s interior design & clever storage solutions were clearly inspired by it. Adaptive cruise, one of many built-in safety features in this car, comes in handy on long drives and is simple to use. Our gripe is a tad minor. The CVT transmission in the Insight needs to be tuned better so that it doesn’t roar at higher speed while combining on the highway or trying to climb a hill. As it stands, the noisy, grainy engine detracts from what could otherwise be a peaceful hybrid ride. The Insight is a great sedan in general, not just a great hybrid sedan. This is a good choice, perhaps even better than the Civic, thanks to its excellent fuel efficiency and engaging driving dynamics. Review of the Honda Insight by a Honda Insight Expert Honda discontinued the Insight in 2014 because it was a clumsy hatchback. If you’re looking for a hybrid car with more style than the Toyota Prius, Honda has redesigned the Insight for 2019. Many mainstream hybrid cars like the Hyundai Elantra Fusion, Kia Niro, & Toyota Corolla Hybrid also compete with the Insight. As of 2022, Honda will no longer be offering the LX, which was earlier the entry-level trim. Interior and Exterior Space The interior of the Honda Insight is roomy. We discovered during our year-long test that the sedan can accommodate surfboards up to 6 feet 2 inches. Two separate trips were required to move a full apartment at one point in time. The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid’s legroom is about the same as the Insight’s, but it has more cargo space. Cargo Space: The Honda Insight has a volume of 15.1 cubic feet. The audio system comes standard with eight speakers, but a 10-speaker option is available. Satellite navigation & Wi-Fi hotspot functionality are also options. Axes and Heels Only the EX & Touring trim levels are available for the Insight. The EX costs just over $26,000, while the Touring costs more than $30,000. For the EX model, the LED headlights, the manual height-adjustable driver’s seat and the cloth seats, the remote engine start and the eight-speaker audio system are all included. Touring includes heated front seats, an 8-way energy extendable vehicle’s seat, leather upholstery, a moonroof, dual-zone climate control, a contrib audio system, Wi-Fi wifi connection, navigation, and subscription services through HondaLink. Honda Civic Hybrids are not Currently Available Because of its tenth-generation Civic’s sporty character, Honda ended production of the Civic Hybrid in 2015. It’s not clear when Honda will bring back the model in the United States, but there have been whispers of a hybridised Civic Type R model in the works. In Terms of Both Performance and Efficiency, We Can Say That . . . An electric motor and a 1.5-liter four cylinder engine produce 152 horsepower on every Honda Insight. A CVT automatic transmission is used to transfer this power. The Insight clocked a 0-60 mph time of 7.3 seconds in our tests. According to the EPA, EX models get 55/49 mpg in the city and main road, while Touring models only get 51/45 mpg. Real-world fuel economy has been lower than expected in our experience. The Elantra Hybrid is rated by the Environmental Protection Agency at 53/56 miles per gallon or 49/52 mpg, depending on the trim, whereas the Insight is Organic at 53/56 mpg. Aspects of Safety and Ratings A Honda Insight is the one of the simplest sedans on the market today after receiving a five-star overall NHTSA rating. All independent crash tests, with front crashes, corner crashes, and rollovers, contribute to this five-star rating. In addition, the IIHS called the Insight a Top Safety Pick+ for 2021, the highest award given by the organization. Standard safety features on the 2022 Honda Insight are extensive. Automatic high beams and adaptive headlights with cross-traffic alert are a few examples of the safety features that can be found in today’s vehicles. Other features include collision warning braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and low-speed follow.
