2024 Chrysler Pacifica Overview

What’s New

  • We expect no significant changes in 2024.
  • In 2017, the first wave of Pacificas came out.

The Chrysler Pacifica is a car with many uses. It is also the only model made by the American brand since the 300 car has been taken off the market. The plug-in hybrid Pacifica can go about 32 miles on battery power alone and can be bought with an all-wheel drive. The useful Stow ‘n Go sitting feature is only available on cars that aren’t hybrids. It lets the second-row seats fold into the floor, making room for almost any luggage. Even though the Pacifica is old, it stays relevant by being updated constantly.

The Chrysler Pacifica usually has room for seven people, but it can fit up to eight if you add a second-row bench seat. The inside of the car is well-organized, with nooks, trays, and other clever ways to store things in the right places. The floor wells where the middle seats fold down for Stow ‘n Go can also hide goods while the car is in use. When the back two rows are folded down, there are 140.5 cubic feet of extra room. But the load floor is almost flat, making it easy to slide things in.

Minivans like the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Kia Carnival fight with the Chrysler Pacifica on the market. Shortly, the all-electric Volkswagen ID Buzz, a concept throwback to the famous VW Microbus of the 1960s and 1970s, will go up against the Pacifica.

Pros

  • It is easy to switch from moving people to transporting goods.
  • A fancy-looking inside.
  • All-wheel drive is a possibility.
  • Excellent sight around the edges.

Cons

  • The second-row seats have less space or ease than seats in similar cars.
  • The nine-speed automatic transmission sometimes shifts slowly or with a lot of noise.
  • The gas mileage is worse than the average for the class.
  • The quality of the build changes a lot.

How does the Pacifica know where to go? The efficiency of the Pacifica could be better. Its V6 engine won’t throw your head back, but it won’t let you down. How the car stops and how fast it goes is usual for its class. Most of the time, this car runs without any problems. Also, the driving and steering are just the way they are. Both the Toyota Sienna and the Honda Odyssey are great cars for driving.

Most of the time, the nine-speed automatic gearbox works very well. We saw that it sometimes needed clarification when climbing steep hills and putting itself in a higher or lower gear than needed. We didn’t expect it to keep the car so busy.

How lovely is the Pacifica to ride in? Even though the front seats have firm padding, we found them comfy for long trips. The front seats can be heated or cooled, which is a great choice. But the Stow ‘n Go seats in the second row are less comfy than those in other minivans. Also, they can’t be adjusted as much, so the legs of the second row have a little less room. The third row is comfortable enough.

Most of the time, the ride is smooth and easy on all kinds of roads. Even though there is a lot of body lean when the road starts to curve, the Pacifica is about the same as other current minivans in this way. The noise from the V6 engine isn’t as annoying as the hybrid model’s motor. This is because the V6 has a more traditional automatic transmission instead of the continuously variable automatic transmission in the Pacifica Hybrid. On the other hand, because the nine-speed message tends to downshift more, the engine noise may sometimes start up when you least expect it.

How does the inside look? The Pacifica is easy to drive because it has simple settings. The knobs for the radio and air control are neatly placed and easy for the driver to reach. The extra level and tuning buttons for the radio that Chrysler put on the back of the steering wheel still make sense to us.

The Pacifica is easy to get in and out of because it has low door sills, big door spaces, a tall roofline, and seats in the right places. Both the driver’s seat and the driving wheel can be moved. In the front, there is plenty of room for your legs, and the big windows make it easy to see and ensure no dark spots. The extra 360-degree camera system makes getting around in small places much more accessible.

Because the second-row captain’s seats in the Stow ‘n Go can’t be moved as much as in other minivans, there may be less space than in other vehicles. Even though there is little room in the third row, people can use it for short trips.

How good is the tech? The Uconnect entertainment system in the Pacifica is easy to use, has many features, and works well with smartphones. Its main feature is a big touch screen with clear images and fast responses to touch and voice commands. It lets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connect to smartphones through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. There are also many USB ports to connect your gadgets. Alexa can be used with mobile Internet connections, and the Uconnect app lets you use your phone to handle many car systems. Media can also be sent to the car through an extra seatback TV system.

Advanced driving assistance systems like lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning with pedestrian detection, and many others are often used. It would be best if you thought about getting the extra 360-degree camera.

What about putting things away? Minivans are all about ease of use and making good use of room. Like its rivals, the Pacifica has a vast storage space behind the third row of seats. You can easily fold the third-row seats by hand, and Chrysler also has a power-folding version.

The Pacifica is great at being flexible in the second row. The innovative Stow ‘n Go seats fold into the floor without help. When they are in use, they have storage spaces under the bottom where you can put more goods. The pockets, cupholders, and shelves can all be used to store your kids’ favorite rocks, bottle caps, and coins.

Regarding kids, it’s great to have room for car seats. The points for LATCH are easy to get to. Even though the second-row seats in the Pacifica Hybrid are less flexible than the first-row seats, there is still sufficient space for child seats that face the back of the vehicle, and parents have easy access to their children. Also, children can use the buckles on booster seats.

When properly outfitted, the Pacifica can pull up to 3,600 pounds. This is about the same as other minivans out there.

How well does it use gasoline? The EPA says the Pacifica with all-wheel drive gets a combined 20 mpg (17 city/25 highway). That’s one of the lowest numbers in the class. On our 115-mile test trip, most of which was on the road, we got 23 mpg. This shows that the EPA estimates are accurate. After 500 kilometers of driving in various ways, we only got 18 mpg, which could be better. Models of the Pacifica with front-wheel drive get 22 mpg combined (19 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway).

Is it worth the money to buy the Pacifica? From the Touring to the top-of-the-line Pinnacle, the Pacifica series has a car for everyone. Our test car was a Limited model with all-wheel drive, the S Appearance package, and other extras that cost about $55,000. We could have been more impressed with the price. Interiors of hard metals and soft-touch materials detract from the otherwise high-end look. The seat and armrests are stiff, which takes away from what is otherwise one of the nicest-looking cabins you can get in a minivan today.

Overall, the fit and finish could be better, and other test vans with the Pacifica had the same electrical problems. The Chrysler warranty covers roadside help for five years, which is about average for this class.

Minivans are not made to be fun and exciting. They care more about how things work. Bring your fun if you want to have some. There is, without a doubt, enough room for it.

It stands out because of its Stow ‘n Go seats. It’s excellent planning that those chairs in the second row can be quickly flipped over and put on the ground. If you use features like quick shifts a lot, this car might be a good choice for you.

Chrysler had not said anything official about the Pacifica when this was written. We’ll change our grade if anything changes, but based on the model from last year, we think the Touring L trim level in the middle is the best deal. You get many more features than the basic model for a little more money. Choose the Uconnect Theater package for even more ease. It has two touchscreens in the back, an Amazon Fire TV built-in, more USB ports, and other features.

Models of the Chrysler Pacifica

The Chrysler Pacifica has four different models: Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. The Pacifica comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque as standard. The front wheels of the minivan are turned by this engine, which is coupled to an automatic gearbox with nine different speeds. All-wheel drive can be added to all trims except for the Touring.
