2025 Ford Bronco Overview

When the Bronco name came back in 2021, it was likely one of the most anticipated events in Ford’s history. Ford did everything possible to make the Bronco a modern, all-terrain SUV that could compete directly with the Wrangler. The Bronco can be customized to fit the wants of almost any off-road enthusiast. It comes with a choice of two or four doors, a manual or automatic transmission, and a lot of off-road equipment. Ford won’t make many changes to the 2025 Bronco.

Some casual users may think that off-roading only means going through dunes, but it’s a lot more than that. The Bronco has a wide range of gear and accessories that allow it to handle almost any off-road situation you can think of. When the Bronco is at its most basic, its standard four-wheel drive and high ground clearance make it easy to cross most trails. If you like off-roading more slowly and over bigger rocks, the Bronco’s Sasquatch kit has some really cool and durable off-road parts. The Bronco Raptor also has trick springs, a more powerful engine, and re-calibrated stability control, so you can drive fast and live out your desert-running dreams.

The Jeep Wrangler has to be talked about when the Bronco is being talked about. Off-road capabilities for both cars are about the same, ranging from mild to extreme, and they can go almost anywhere. You should also take a look at Toyota’s 4Runner. The Toyota is getting old, but it can do almost as much off-road if it’s properly equipped. It’s also much quieter and behaves much better on the open road.

How is it to drive a Bronco? Bronco’s turbo four-cylinder or turbo V6 engines work well with their quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, making regular driving smooth and powerful. The V6 Bronco can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, which is an average time. It has bigger tires and four doors. With more power, the V6 makes on-ramps and short merges easier and more fun.

When you press down hard on the brakes, the nose dives a lot, which is normal for off-road SUVs. However, the emergency stopping lengths were a lot longer than we would have liked. At 60 mph, a panic stop took 146 feet, which is how far heavy-duty pickup trucks usually go. Other Broncos we’ve tried with less aggressive tires stopped 10 feet shorter, which is still longer than we’d like to see. However, our test vehicle had the Sasquatch off-road gear and tough tires, which made it stop even shorter.

The best thing about it is the handling. Thanks to its independent front suspension, the Bronco’s steering wheel gives its driver a sense of stability and trust on the freeway. On long trips, you won’t get tired of turning but don’t expect thrills on winding roads.

How does the Bronco make you feel? The Bronco isn’t a luxury car, but it rides smoother than the Jeep Wrangler, which is its main rival. The Bronco’s seats offer better support and can be adjusted in a variety of ways, which makes them easier to use on long highway trips. Because it is built on a truck, it rides a little firmer and rougher than other SUVs, but not enough to make you not want to drive it.

The dual-zone temperature control allows you to change the strength of the auto setting, and the heated front seats are great for quickly warming up your car on a cold day. The Bronco’s score in this area is lower because the hardtop can be taken off, letting a lot of wind noise into the car at almost any speed. Several rattles and noises were heard and felt during our off-road tests.

How is the state of the inside? Like some other off-road vehicles, the Bronco may have a big step up or down to get in and out. There are many grab bars inside the car to help, though. We want the front grab handles to be more useful, but they only work when put on the windshield pillars. All of the buttons and gauges will be easy to see because the driver’s seat and steering wheel can be adjusted in many ways. Our favorite thing about the big, chunky buttons is that they are easy to see and use even when we are wearing gloves.

The Bronco’s cabin looks big because there is a lot of space. Even in models with only two doors, the back seat still gives off this image. However, in a two-door Bronco, the front seats need to slide forward farther, making it seem like you can’t get to them easily.

What’s wrong with the tech? Some cutting-edge driving assistance systems have been built into Bronco. You can also change the drive modes to better match the SUV’s grip to the type of off-road track you’re on. We were disappointed to see that some of the driving assistance features, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, could be better on other SUVs in the same class.

In addition, the Bronco has the newest Ford technologies for communication and entertainment. The center screen gives clear pictures and easy access to Apple and Android smartphones, whether you use a cable or go wireless. At fast speeds, the test car’s sound had a hard time blocking out road noise.

What’s going on with storage? The Bronco is taller than the Wrangler, which is why its cabin and cargo room are bigger. A strut holds up the Bronco’s rear swing gate, which opens on the passenger side. The soft top needs a prop rod to stay up, and the rear window of a hardtop car folds up easily, while the soft top’s window doesn’t go as far. There are a lot of cup holders and places to put personal things, and there is enough storage space inside. When it’s ready, the Bronco can pull 3,500 pounds. That’s less than the Wrangler and 4Runner can pull, but it’s good enough for a small trailer. Put all four wheels of any Bronco on the ground to flat-tow it.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the Ford Bronco will get between 17 and 20 mpg on the highway and in the city, based on the engine and configuration. These numbers are usually smaller than those for similar Jeep Wrangler models. The four-door Bronco with the 2.7-liter V6 engine that we tested got a mediocre 17 mpg in real-world tests.

Just how much is the Bronco worth? Some people, especially those who buy high-end cars, might be let down by the Bronco’s rather tacky interior materials. In contrast, others might like how the interior’s exposure to the outdoors makes it last longer. The Bronco has more off-road features across all price ranges than the Jeep Wrangler. This gives buyers with a range of funds more choices. The benefits of ownership and guarantee could be better.

When it comes to character and skill, the Bronco has both in spades. Its sturdy form makes it look good without trying too hard. The Bronco, like the Wrangler, is fun to drive when the doors and top are off. However, the Bronco is more appealing off-road because it handles and rides better.

Ford hasn’t said anything public about the 2025 Bronco yet as of this writing. If anything changes, we’ll let you know, but based on last year’s Bronco, we suggest the Big Bend trim. Even though it’s the base trim, it comes with a lot of nice features. You can upgrade to the Sasquatch or Mid-trim packages if you need more room or comfort.
