2025 Honda Civic Overview

What’s new:

  • There is now a hybrid drivetrain offered.
  • I reworked the front end and grille.
  • Google drives high-end entertainment.
  • It is part of the eleventh generation of Civics, which will go on sale in 2022.

The modern Honda Civic is one of the best cars the company makes because it strikes a great balance between value, speed, and usability. The 2025 Honda Civic is a small car or hatchback that has almost everything you could want. There are many choices for power and performance, as well as a lot of technology and driver assistance systems inside the car. There is also enough space inside and for cargo. Another big change to keep an eye on is the new hybrid Civic that will come out in 2025.

In 2025, the Civic will get a new hybrid engine. It has 200 horsepower, the same as the Si, but 20% more low-end torque. The Si has better performance parts, like a sports suspension, bigger brakes, a manual transmission, and so on, but the hybrid will easily beat it. The hybrid is also expected to get 49 mpg when driving both electric and gas vehicles. Honda’s decision to stop making the previously available (and very popular) 180-hp turbocharged engine is the only bad thing about the hybrid. A new infotainment system with some Google-based services, like a voice helper that can change different vehicle settings, and some small changes to the way the cars look are also coming out in 2025.

For small cars, the 2025 Honda Civic is the standard, but it’s important to consider your other choices. The Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla are affordable and feature high-performance variants that rival the Si and Type R. The Kia Forte is a great choice all around and isn’t too expensive. The Mazda 3, on the other hand, handles beautifully and has a beautiful interior.

What do they like to live with?

A year with a Civic Si gave our test team a chance to learn more about how this fast Civic drives in everyday life. Even though the test car was from 2022, many of the things we learned can still be used for the whole Civic.

Pros

  • It’s fun to drive when you have good control.
  • There are electric powertrains that get good gas mileage.
  • Large areas for goods and seating.
  • Technology features that are easy to use.

Cons

  • Noise from cars on the highway is annoying.
  • There’s no back support in the front seat.
  • It costs more than its top rivals.

How does the Civic get its power? It’s too early for us to test the new Civic with the hybrid engine. We did try this engine in the CR-V SUV, though, and found that it’s pretty strong for commuting. Honda should feel bad about getting rid of the turbocharged engine that was previously offered because the regular Civic isn’t very good at speeding up. Because the Civic is strong and sporty, driving around turns in it makes you feel good and is fun. Furthermore, this Civic is fun to drive, which is what we would expect from a cheap car.

How much comfort does the Civic offer? The Civic’s suspension system does a good job of smoothing out bumps in the road. The car’s strong driving makes up for the fact that it doesn’t ride as well as some other small cars. The leather seats let air flow well on hot days, and the front seats are supportive. There is no way to change the lumbar support on the seats, though, which could be a problem for people with sensitive lower backs. Another problem is that you can hear road noise, especially on freeways, and it can be very annoying when the road is bumpy.

How is the state of the inside? The design of the interior looks good. Each control is easily available and simple to use. It also has a lot of space. The back seats are big enough for average-sized adults, and the front seats can fit people of all heights. The back seats have a lot of room for legs and heads. It’s also fun to look outside the Civic.

What’s wrong with the tech? The Civic’s tablet entertainment system is placed high on the dashboard so that you can keep your eyes on the road. Even though the images on the base touchscreen look old, the device nevertheless works properly. The optional 9-inch screen has a better picture and wifi connection so that you can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on your phone. There is also service interaction and Google Voice Assistant. Even though this screen is better, Honda only puts it on the most expensive Civic models.

What’s going on with storage? The Civic sedan’s trunk can hold up to 14.8 cubic feet of things, which is more than most cars in its class. The Civic’s wheel wells and trunk springs only get in the way sometimes, so there’s plenty of space. There is little room in the pass-through gap between the trunk and the back seat, but the back seats can be folded down to make more room for goods. There are several big cupholders and a large bin in the middle of the cabin. There are three top anchor points for front-facing child safety seats in the Civic, and the main lower anchor points are easy to get to if you have little ones. Bigger rear-facing infant carriers may slightly reduce the space for front passengers, but this is still the case for most cars in this class.

How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that a normal Civic can get up to 36 mpg on the highway and in the city together. The total gas mileage should be 49 mpg if you choose the hybrid drivetrain. The Elantra and Corolla, which are rivals of the Civic, get about the same gas mileage ratings. However, these numbers are still very good.

Is the Civic worth buying? The Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla are cheaper alternatives to the Honda Civic. Still, the Civic is faster, gets better gas mileage, has fewer options, and has a nicer interior, so the higher price is well worth it. Honda’s warranty is typical compared to others. The company does, however, make good products that normally keep their value.

This little Honda has a lot of speed, which is a surprise. This is especially true for how quickly it can be driven, which makes more eager drivers laugh. Most of the time, these features are only found on high-performance cars like the Civic Si and Type R.

The Sport trim will be good enough for most people. The extra mile for the new Sport Hybrid is worth it. It has a strong hybrid engine with 200 horsepower that gets more than 50 mpg. It also has some nice features, like heated seats and a sunroof. We understand that the price might make you cringe, but it is the best deal in the Civic range.

Honda Civic types

The 2025 Honda Civic is available in either a car or a hatchback body style. When we did our study, we only knew about the LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid price levels of the sedan from Honda. We’ll know more about the Type R and 2025 Si by the end of the summer.
