The Jeep Gladiator is an SUV based on the Jeep Wrangler pickup truck. In every other way, it is the same as its spiritual predecessor. It is a little longer and has a five-foot storage bed. Another cool thing about the Gladiator is that you can take off the roof to drive it outside in the sun. It is the only truck in its class that can do this. The Gladiator will get a plug-in hybrid engine in 2025, which will make it even more special. Like the Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe, the Gladiator 4xe (pronounced “4-by-e”) will likely have the same gas-electric setup. It has a 17.3-kWh battery and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Jeep still needs to put out exact specs. That means the power has gone up by 80%, which should make leaving stoplights more exciting. It has a lot more low-end power than the current Gladiator’s V6. It will be a while before we know how much the Gladiator 4xe can pull, but it will be at least 6,000 pounds, if not more, than the Grand Cherokee. The 7,000-pound Gladiator we have now is the smallest. The Gladiator 4xe should be more appealing because it has more low-end power on the track and better gas mileage. The Wrangler 4xe gets 49 MPGe and can only go 22 miles, while the Grand Cherokee gets 56 MPGe and can go 56 miles on battery power. The Gladiator needs to be in the middle of the group. The Ford Ranger, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and Chevrolet Colorado are some of the most famous midsize trucks that compete with the Ram. In order to fight with the Gladiator Rubicon, all of them have been redesigned and come in off-road versions. Even though the Tacoma has a hybrid engine, the battery can’t be charged by plugging it in. For a short time, the Gladiator will be the only plug-in midsize truck that you can buy. Pros vs Cons Pros Jeep’s tough appearance and ability to go off-road. The only truck that can be used in open-mode. It has more space in the back seats than other midsize trucks. Cons With the Rubicon trim, the steering could be faster and easier to use. There are times when the ride is rough and uncomfortable. Not enough speed or fuel economy. Performance In what way do you drive a gladiator? A V6-engined Gladiator Rubicon was tested. It took our test truck 8.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Even though it feels a little slow for a midsize pickup, you don’t even notice when you’re moving normally. The V6 has a good amount of power and can quickly reach highway speeds. The automated method also starts shifts quickly and correctly. The Gladiator Rubicon is a real beast in the dirt. Thanks to its high ground clearance and good grip, it can get through or over almost any obstacle. The Gladiator is a little less maneuverable than the Wrangler on small roads because its wheelbase is longer, but the difference is a little smaller. The Gladiator is great off-road, but it’s not so good on the road because of its big tires and strong front axle. It’s hard to turn precisely, and you have to watch out for bumps in the road and crosswinds. It’s easier to drive and doesn’t tire you out as much as other medium cars. Comfort How big does the Gladiator really fit? The Gladiator’s big solid-axle front suspension definitely makes the ride less comfortable. The Gladiator shakes and swings more than any other truck when driving on uneven pavement. You will hear more road and wind noise than in other trucks. Any further than that, things look a lot better. The climate control system works well and has vents for people in the back seats. The seats are also comfortable. Interior How is the inside? The Gladiator’s settings are easy to use and well-organized. The normal upright Jeep driving position works well here, and the bigger back seat is better than in other crew-cab trucks. We drove a Gladiator Rubicon trim that was tall and hard to get into. However, the wide-opening doors and lots of grab handles made it easier. It can be converted into another vehicle. Drivers can easily place their tires where they need to be because they can see well from both the front and the back. A basic rearview camera can be upgraded to include a forward-looking camera designed for crawling over obstacles off-road. Technology What’s wrong with the tech? The Gladiator has a big touchscreen in the middle that responds to touches and is easy to read in any light. As standard, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay let you talk to your phone wirelessly. But the Gladiator doesn’t have any of the more advanced driver assistance features that other cars do. Jeep gives more than just the bare necessities. It has adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning. Storage How do you store things and tow things? All Gladiators, including the Rubicon, can pull a lot of weight and have high towing ratings. It has low bedsides and a power-locking door on its bed, which are both new features. Because the Gladiator has a thin body, the stock mirrors won’t let you see past a wide load. If you tow trailers often, consider adding aftermarket tow mirrors. The back seat can fit both cargo and kid seats because it has a lot of space and can be folded up. Lack of personal storage is the Gladiator’s main issue. The center panel and small glovebox are the only places to store things inside. There is also a net pocket. Fuel Economy How much fuel does it use? Because of its blocky appearance, the Gladiator doesn’t look like it was made to be a fuel-efficient car. However, with an automatic gearbox and a V6 engine, it should get 19 mpg on the highway. This is the same as other midsize 4WD pickup trucks with six engines. Jeep no longer has any four-cylinder engines that use little gas. Value Why would you want to buy the Gladiator? Compared to other medium trucks, the Gladiator is not very expensive, but it is well put together. Every car has a manual gearbox. You can have an automatic drive if you want one, but if you don’t, you’ll have to pay more for it. The MSRPs of other trucks already include that cost. The warranty support could be better. Wildcard It’s a Jeep Wrangler pickup truck. Does it really matter to talk more about it? If you’re switching from a Wrangler with four doors to this, you give up some off-road potential. If, on the other hand, you go into it thinking, “I need a truck,” this car gives off Jeep spirit and outdoor joy. While similar trucks like the Colorado and Tacoma are more comfortable for everyday use, they are less ready for action than the Gladiator. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? As of this writing, Jeep has not released any official details about the 2025 Gladiator. If the Gladiator changes in any way since last year, we’ll change our ranking. There is a great balance in the Willys. It has some off-road improvements over the base Sport that aren’t included in the Rubicon, like rock rails, a locking rear differential, and 32-inch tires. Some of the extra features that make it easier to use are power windows, locks, and doors, as well as adaptable cruise control. Different kinds of Jeep Gladiators The Jeep Gladiator is a medium-sized pickup truck that can fit five people. A four-door crew cab with a five-foot bed is the only type that can be reached. There are four main trim levels: Mojave, Sport, Willys, and Sport. 2025 Jeep Gladiator Video Review
