2023 Nissan Murano Overview What’s new? In 2023, nothing important will change. A third-generation 2015 Nissan Murano is from the third generation Since 2003, Nissan has had a midsize SUV called the Murano. It has always been known for its bold design and comfortable seating for five. Since the current model has been out since 2015, it should have been updated by now based on how long cars usually last. On the other hand, the Murano keeps making its old SUV the same way it did last year, and Nissan hasn’t said anything about creating a new model. Compared to the fantastic redesigns of the smaller Rogue, the larger Pathfinder, and the same-sized, all-electric Ariya, the Murano looks and feels old. In addition to having more cargo space, which makes sense, the smaller Rogue now has the same legroom as the larger Murano, upgraded technology, and a more contemporary feel inside. If you want a bigger car, the Pathfinder has three rows of seats, a substantial towing capacity, and Nissan’s most modern interior, just like the Rogue. On the other hand, the Ariya is about the same size as the Murano and, even though it costs more, gives Nissan a much more modern look. In its class, the Murano is still a good buy. But if it isn’t wholly redesigned, it will continue to fall behind competitors like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, and Toyota Venza, which came out more recently. Pros vs Cons Pros Quality materials and a one-of-a-kind design for the inside. The front seats are really comfortable. A large space in the back Cons The small amount of cargo space makes it less useful. Faster than most of the competition Not able to carry heavy weekend items like some of our competitors The sleek exterior makes it harder to see from the outside. Performance The base 3.5-liter V6 engine has enough power to get around daily and can speed up quickly when needed. It has an automatic transmission that is the best on the market (CVT). Except when the car is speeding up quickly, there are no noticeable gear changes, and power is always sent to the road. The driving qualities of the Murano are also mostly good. Because of its speed-sensitive steering, the Murano is better than most midsize SUVs at handling higher speeds around curves. You have to slam on the brakes to get the most stopping power. Otherwise, the brakes work fine, and the pedal feels the same. Comfort The front and back seats of the Murano are supportive and comfortable in all the right places. This makes long trips more comfortable. The climate control has two zones, and the air conditioning is strong but quiet. You may call the system back. Even though only the top Platinum grade has seats that can be ventilated, the heated and cooled seat features are impressive. Again, compared to other cars with similar transmissions, the CVT automatic on the Murano is less compromised. At full power, it makes a pleasant sound, and there is no droning noise inside. The ride could be better, but it’s because the top trim levels have 20-inch wheels. Interior The knobs and buttons on the Murano are easy to use. Finding a good driving position with enough head and shoulder room is easy. On the other hand, there is little room for legs in the back of a medium SUV. Because the doors and openings are so big and wide, getting in and out is easy. However, because of their size, they should be used with care in small spaces. The Murano’s unique look also makes it harder to see. Because the hood is oversized and the roof slopes, the front and back windows are small. You have to rely on the blind-spot warning system because the SUV looks more significant than it is. Technology The 8-inch touchscreen looks old and straightforward immediately, making it easy to use. The optional 11-speaker Bose Audio system is easy to use and responds quickly. It plays music that is clear as a bell. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make it easy to connect your phone, and Bluetooth makes it easy to connect. Other tech features include NissanConnect services and navigation that you can control with your voice. Most of the time, the extra safety features are impressive and work well. The adaptive cruise control system smartly slows down when there is traffic, but it takes just a moment to pick up speed again. Storage Some midsize SUVs can pull more than 5,000 pounds, but the Murano can only tow 1,500 pounds. It has less cargo space than its competitors, but the 32.1 cubic feet behind the back seats and 67 cubic feet with the second row folded flat are still plenty. Inside, there are few places to put small things. The door pockets and the center console cannot accommodate a modest water bottle. A single armrest and two cup holders are located in the center of the back seat. Have you got any children? It’s easy to install child safety seats in the Murano because the lower LATCH anchors and tether anchoring points are easy to reach. Fuel Economy On our 115-mile route, our all-wheel-drive test Murano did better than most of its competitors and beat the EPA’s estimate of 23 mpg combined. Its average of 18.9 mpg over nearly 800 miles of mixed driving over two weeks was lower than the EPA’s city rating of 20 mpg. Value Fit and finish are good on the Murano, and the plastics inside that look like marble cost a lot. The value goes up because the seats are so comfortable. A version with all the features you want costs about $40,000, about the same as what direct competitors charge. Nissan’s basic warranty and engine warranty are standard in the industry. You can get a lot of coverage for up to eight years and 120,000 miles. There is also a three-year free trial subscription for remote door locking and maintenance notifications and a six-month free trial subscription for accident alerts and tracking of a stolen car. Wildcard The Murano is a unique design, whether you like it or not. The Murano may be easier to drive if it had better visibility and average handling, which makes it look bigger than it is. Even though an SUV’s powerful engine is sound, it doesn’t make it one of the most fun cars. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? The SL trim level of this midsize SUV is where it shines. It removes the SV’s fake leather seats and adds a hands-free liftgate, GPS, and better Audio equipment. Models of the Nissan Murano A range of S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims are available for the 2023 Nissan Murano, a midsize sport utility vehicle. A 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque is standard across all trim levels (CVT). Every car has the option of either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. 2023 Nissan Murano Video Review
