It can do great things on and off-road, and it’s smaller and more maneuverable than the full-size Range Rover. You can choose from three different powertrains to find the Sport that fits your lifestyle and the way you drive best. The P360 inline-six engine makes 355 horsepower, and the P400 inline-six engine can make up to 395. The plug-in hybrid P550e model has 542 horsepower and can go about 51 miles on electricity alone. An adjustable air spring suspension system lowers the SUV when it’s not in use and raises it when it needs to. This improves aerodynamics, off-road performance, and on-road driving. If you add the optional Stormer Handling package, which has a torque-vectoring rear differential and rear-wheel steering, the Range Rover Sport turns into a real racing car. The Range Rover Sport SV (reviewed separately) has a 626-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine and is the fastest car you can buy. No matter which model you choose, the inside will be comfy and full of useful features. The ride will be smooth, and the outside will look great, which will make it clear that it’s a Range Rover. It costs more for the Range Rover Sport than well-known luxury SUVs like the Mercedes-AMG GLE53, Porsche Cayenne, and BMW X5. What's New? In 2025, the Range Rover Sport’s ninth year on the market, a new Stealth look package will be added. Exclusive to the P400 Dynamic SE grade, it replaces the basic bright exterior trim with gloss black elements and adds Carpathian Grey metallic paint with a satin-finished transparent wrap. The set comes with black brake pads and 23-inch wheels. An air filter and either Light Cloud or Ebony leather furniture are part of the Stealth package. Pros and Cons Pros Excellent smoothness for driving. Very fancy and expensive. The electric range of hybrid cars is longer. Cons It’s not very fast besides the SV. The setup inside is hard to understand. The style from the outside is generic. Engine, Transmission, and Performance If you choose the P360 SE or the P400 SE Dynamic, the base engine is a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine with a 48-volt hybrid system. This engine makes 355 horsepower. People said that our test car had the best ride quality ever on the damaged road near our Michigan offices. The high-end Autobiography trim is the only one that comes with the plug-in hybrid P550e. It has 542 horsepower from both an electric motor and an inline-six engine. All models come with an eight-speed automatic engine, all-wheel drive, and an air suspension that can be adjusted. The Stormer Handling package adds torque vectoring to the rear differential and rear-wheel steering to the Range Rover Sport. It is an optional fast-driving mode. During our first test drive, we were surprised by how well the Range Rover Sport combined comfort and sportiness. The rear-wheel steering system also made it easier to get around in tight spaces. Safety Many features come standard to help the driver, such as lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree outer camera system. It has an advanced cruise control system and an off-road mode as well. The following are important safety features: It comes with automatic emergency brakes. Lane-keeping assistance and standards lane departure warning. It comes with adaptive speed control. Internal and External Cargo Capacity The Range Rover Sport’s dash is simple, with a clean look and not many buttons and knobs that you can feel. In eye-catching two-tone patterns, customers can choose from upholstery made of cloth or real leather. Chrome accents that are a dark color look very expensive. Power-adjustable front seats are normal, but you can also get a set of chairs with up to 22 adjustment points, massage, and airflow that you can add as an option. An air filtering device is said to make the cabin less smelly, sick, and full of bacteria and viruses. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG Land Rover says that the P360 and P400 models will get 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The P360 SE got 25 mpg on our highway test route at 75 mph, which is great for an SUV that weighs 5387 pounds. Infotainment and Connectivity The Range Rover Sport has a huge 13.1-inch curved touchscreen for entertainment and an even bigger 13.7-inch screen in front of the driver for showing the instruments. Even though Land Rover’s Pivi Pro interface is their best try at in-car entertainment so far, it does have some problems that we found when we tested it in other cars like the Defender and Discovery. And the screens look like they’re floating above the Range Rover Sport’s padded interior. They’re bright and clear, though. All versions of the Range Rover Sport come with Amazon’s Alexa, as well as mobile Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To save space, a wireless charging station for smartphones is put on a shelf right below the screen for entertainment. A 29-speaker Meridian sound system is available as an option for the Range Rover Sport. There are speakers in both the front and back headrests. Range, Charging, and Battery Life According to Land Rover, the P550e plug-in hybrid car has a battery that can power the car for 51 miles on electricity alone. The electric range will be comparable to Land Rover’s estimates when we drive it on our 75 mph highway fuel economy route. We haven’t tried it yet, but we will soon. Price and How to Choose The better choice is the P400 Dynamic SE trim, which has more power. Its extra horsepower will definitely give it a small edge on the highway and in town, and it comes with many useful and nice features that won’t break the bank.
