In 2025, this full-size pickup truck will get a number of updates to keep its top spot in its class. It comes with a standard V-6 engine and an inline-six twin-turbo motor. The new engine replaces the old Hemi V-8 and makes 540 horsepower. The half-ton Ram works best when it’s loaded with comfort features, while the Rebel model can go off-road better. High-end trims like the Limited and the new Tungsten make the car look like it belongs in a better class, even though it can still do workhorse tasks. Most buyers will be happy with the Ram’s maximum capacity, which is lower than that of rivals like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado. What's New? For 2025, Ram redesigns its full-size car and adds new features to it. A new twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with 420 or 540 horsepower has been put in place of the Hemi V-8. The outside of the truck has been changed a bit, but it still looks sleek and up-to-date. New wheel designs, color schemes, and lighting are all part of the makeover. The basic 8.4-inch screen inside has been changed with a 12.0-inch touchscreen, and a 14.5-inch screen is now also available. On the passenger side, there is also a 10.3-inch screen. For the past five years, the Ram 1500 has been the most luxurious car on the market. But the new top-of-the-line Tungsten version aims to take things to the next level with features like 23-speaker Klipsch radios, quilted leather seats, and massage seats. These are the Ram 1500 REV EV and Ramcharger plug-in hybrid pickups that came out this year. Pros and Cons Pros It has a new straight-six engine. You can now get a PHEV Ramcharger. More advanced than before. Cons There are no longer any V8 versions available. When it comes to power, TRX is better than RHO. Most active safety systems are used sparingly. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The fuel V-6 and twin-turbo inline-six engines in the Ram 1500 are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that makes shifting gears smooth. There is a 48-volt hybrid system that powers the standard V-6 engine, which makes 305 horsepower. It has two turbochargers and makes 420 to 540 horsepower, which is why Ram calls it the Hurricane. After trying a loaded Tungsten trim, we are sure that this engine has more than enough power for truck work. For people who like to take risks, the rugged Rebel model offers real off-road power and a beefier look. The rear suspension of every Ram 1500 has normal coil springs instead of the more traditional leaf springs found on domestic rivals. This makes for a great ride. Models that come with an available air suspension can have their ride height changed, which makes them better off-road and saves gas. Safety The Ram 1500 can come with a number of driver-assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. Some Ram models come with a high-tech adaptive speed control system that lets you drive without using your hands. Visit the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) webpages to learn more about the Ram 1500’s crash test scores. Some important safety factors are: Most automatic emergency brakes detect road users. It comes with blind-spot detection and back cross-traffic alert as standard. You have the option to employ adaptive cruise control or drive hands-free. Internal and External Cargo Capacity It’s easy to store things in the Ram 1500’s big passenger area and cubby storage. Higher versions of the Ram, especially the new Tungsten top level, come with nicer materials and extras that make it look more like a luxury car than a pickup truck. The most expensive ones have real wood details and beautiful leather seats, but most of them come with high-end features like a panoramic sunroof and seats that can be heated and cooled. The Tungsten model has a 23-speaker Klipsch sound system and front seats that can be changed 24 different ways, including massaging. It also has many other high-end features. The crew cab of the Ram 1500 is very roomy, just like the crew cabs of other full-size pickup trucks. It also has a great split-folding door and a lot of storage space inside. There are two sizes of cargo beds: 5’7″ and 6’4″. The extended cab body style, on the other hand, can only be used with the longer bed. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The new Ram with a turbocharged inline-six engine gets 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, but those numbers drop by one mpg when four-wheel drive is added. The high-output inline-six engine now only comes with four-wheel drive. Both city and highway fuel economy are 15 and 21 mpg, respectively. The base V-6 engine gets 19/24% in the city and 24/25% on the highway when it has four-wheel drive. We’ll test drive the updated truck as soon as possible on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route. Once we have the results, we’ll post them here. Infotainment and Connectivity Ram trucks have had some of the best entertainment and connectivity options in their class for a long time. This trend continues in the newest trucks, which come with either a responsive 12.0-inch tablet or an optional 14.5-inch touchscreen. Both systems work with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and have a bigger touchscreen with fewer unnecessary buttons and knobs. There is also a 10.3-inch display for the passenger that has navigation and entertainment elements. Range, Charging, and Battery Life When we put the mechanically similar Jeep Grand Wagoneer L with the Hurricane inline-six engine on our test track, it went from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. We have yet to try the 2025 Ram. Towing and Payload Capacity Pulling a maximum of 11,580 pounds is possible with the 2025 Ram 1500. Besides that, the 1500 can pull up to 2300 pounds. Trucks from Ford and Chevrolet, which are competitors, weigh more than 13,000 pounds. The new Ramcharger plug-in hybrid, which can pull 14,000 pounds, could be a good choice if you need a Ram that can pull more. With a towing ability of up to 37,090 pounds, the Ram HD series is stronger. Price and How to Choose Ram has improved the 2025 1500 with the addition of the Tungsten package. This adds a suede headliner, 24-way changeable seats with massage, and quilted leather to the inside. Doesn’t it sound great? It should, since it’s almost $90,000. The best deals are on the Laramie and Rebel trims. The Rebel trim gives you off-road choices so you can take the 1500 off the beaten path.
