Our Opinion - 2024 Volvo S60 Review

The 2024 Volvo S60 is not the same as a sporty car. The Volvo is very different from cars like the BMW 3-series and Genesis G70, which are directly competing with it and have sharp driving. In some situations, that’s okay, especially if S60 owners like how relaxed and Scandinavian the car looks. The sedan’s good-looking exterior goes well with its simple interior, which is made better by high-quality materials and very comfortable seats. We only need more storage cubes. A 247-hp turbo four-wheel drive system comes with the S60. It is compatible with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the vehicle. The plug-in hybrid engine is more appealing. It has 456 horsepower, all-wheel drive as standard, and an electric-only range of about 41 miles. As part of Volvo’s commitment to safety, every 2024 S60 model comes with a lot of useful and popular features.

In 2024, there won’t be any big changes to the S60 range. There is now a new metallic paint called Vapour Grey, and Black Stone is no longer offered. There have also been some other small changes. The “Dark” exterior theme will now be common on all models in the lineup. The Ultimate, which is the top trim, can only be bought with all-wheel drive now. The Plus, which is the middle trim, comes with an air filter now, and the Climate package can heat the back seats of front-drive cars. Polestar Engineered plug-in hybrid, which is designed for speed, is also not available on the 2024 S60.

Pros

  • A lot of people use old technology.
  • Beautiful Cabin.
  • Please quickly change the model.

Cons

  • Too many options on the control screens.
  • Not a very sporty.
  • The price of PHEVs is high.

The turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the non-hybrid S60 makes 247 horsepower whether the car is driven front-wheel or all-wheel. The Recharge plug-in hybrid makes 456 horsepower and only has all-wheel drive. We were amazed at how well the S60 handled on the road, but we concluded that it lacked the steering feel and driver-vehicle connection of the best sports cars. The Volvo came in last place in a test that compared it to four-cylinder competitors because it is less sporty to drive than cars like the Alfa Romeo Giulia and BMW 3-series. There is no such thing as a sports car in the S60. It is a luxury car.

The beautiful sedan comes with a lot of basic and optional driver-assistance features, such as a mode that lets the car drive itself partially. It also has great technology. Check out the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) webpages to learn more about the S60’s crash test scores. Some important safety factors are:

  • Emergency brakes that work on their own and regular forward crash warnings.
  • It comes with blind-spot detection and back cross-traffic alert as standard.
  • Regular help staying in your lane and a warning when you leave your lane.

Volvo is very proud of the high level of build quality inside the S60, which is achieved by using high-quality materials and paying close attention to every detail. Without a doubt, the style is one of a kind, with features like jeweled switchgear and very comfortable seats. It has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, ambient internal lighting, a head-up display, front seats that massage you, and other luxurious features. The front seats have nice and supportive buckets, and the back seat has plenty of room for people’s heads and legs. Some useful storage choices are door pockets, a center console with a tray that can be pulled out, and a bin under the armrests. However, there is only a little room for all of these. We were also able to fit five carry-on bags into the trunk of the S60, which is one less than the 3-series.

Up to 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway are claimed for the S60, which is not a hybrid. The plug-in hybrid model can go 41 miles on electricity alone and should get 74 MPGe. In order to do all of our tests, we drove a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) along our 75-mph fuel economy path. The PHEV got 37 mpg and went 34 miles on energy alone.

Each S60 comes with an entertainment system that works like a computer and is based on the Google interface. We like that there is a big volume knob under the home button and a real home button at the bottom of the screen. The speech assistant that comes with the system works well. But, like way too many others, this one doesn’t have a tuning knob. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will likely likely be standard, and a Bowers & Wilkins high-end sound system will be an alternative.

We would pick the Plus model because it comes with more features than the Core model, like adaptive speed control, a 360-degree camera for the outside, and leather seats. If you live somewhere cold, the Climate package is a good choice. It comes with heated window washers, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
