2024 Volvo XC60 Overview

What’s new

  • No longer you can get a car with front-wheel drive or a powerful engine.
  • Upgraded windows and air filters are now standard in several classes.
  • The second model, XC60, will come out in 2018.

Customers who want a high-end SUV that is comfy and well-made SUV may want to look at well-known brands like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. Unlike its more German severe competitors, the 2024 Volvo XC60 has a beautiful Scandinavian look. The XC60 is the only car in its class with a plug-in hybrid model that can go 35 miles on electricity alone, a trunk that can fit five people, and more space inside than most competitors. Even though it doesn’t have the smooth ride of the Benz or the quick handling of the Audi or BMW, the XC60 has its style.

Volvo has always gone its way in the luxury car market in Europe. The XC60 is no different. It has both a standard gas engine and a plug-in hybrid engine. This is a feature that few competitors offer, with the Audi Q5 being a notable exception. This gives the XC60 an edge, even though the base drivetrain is more than $11,000 more expensive. The extra power is excellent, and the additional cost may be worth it based on how you drive. The T8 may “self-recharge” by using its gas engine to add to the charge of its batteries. Even though it doesn’t replace charging and plugging, it is a valuable feature that can increase the electric range. The T8 is listed at 63 miles per gallon equivalent for everything.

Customers can choose from several small luxury SUVs, such as the agile Audi Q5, the sporty BMW X3, and the elegant Mercedes-Benz GLC. The Lexus RX is beautiful and comfortable, but the Genesis GV70 looks like a Bentley but doesn’t cost as much as one. The Cadillac XT5 looks tiny but drives quickly and looks good. The only car that can compete with the T8 Recharge is the Audi Q5, even though it has a lower electric range rating (23 miles) than the Volvo.

Pros

  • Beautiful inside design.
  • The second row of seats is roomy.
  • A large number of standard safety features.
  • It’s a plug-in hybrid choice.

Cons

  • Not as fun to drive as most of its rivals.
  • The ride is firmer than you might expect from a luxury SUV.

If you don’t care about money, we suggest the XC60 Recharge Plus trim. The plug-in hybrid has more power and costs more than an average car with four cylinders. But if your journey is short or you often take routes that use the Recharge’s 35 miles of electric-only range, you may make up the extra cost by using less gas. We suggest going with the regular B5 engine and trim if you want to drive on gas. The second one has better amenities inside and more features to help the driver.

Models of Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 is a small luxury SUV that will be released in 2024. It comes in four trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate, and Polestar Engineered.

There are two engine choices for the Core, Plus, and Ultimate trims. The B5 engine is a 48-volt mild hybrid system driven by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid uses the same engine and an electric motor to power the back wheels. The gas and electric mix (455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft) works well with the 18.8 kWh battery, which lets the XC60 plug-in hybrid go about 35 miles on electricity alone. The eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard with both engines. The Recharge T8 engine is the only choice for the Polestar Engineered.
