2023 Volvo XC40 Overview What’s new? Slight improvement in gas mileage Minor changes to the outside look New tiers of trim XC40 from the first generation, made in 2019 When it came out in 2019, the Volvo XC40 made a big splash. Its funky-cool Scandinavian design made it stand out in the subcompact luxury SUV class. In the rankings by InvoicePricing, the XC40 has lost ground to newer and better cars. After several changes, the Volvo XC40 2023 could compete again for the top spot in its class. Starting in 2023, both engines that can be used in the XC40 will have new mild hybrid systems. This is not a complete hybrid system like the Toyota Prius, but it is one mpg more fuel efficient than the model year before. The grille, headlights, and bumpers on the outside have also been updated to make it look simpler and cleaner, like the all-electric XC40 Recharge. The names of the trim levels and the features have also been changed. The XC40 uses the Google built-in infotainment system from the Recharge. This lets it work with services like Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant voice control. Depending on the trim level, it comes with between one and four years of data through a feature called Digital Services. We found that getting used to these features in the XC40 Recharge took some time because the interface was challenging. Apple CarPlay is also a standard so that iPhone users will be included. All of these changes have made the 2023 Volvo XC40 even more attractive than it was before. It stands out from other SUVs because of how well its style and intelligence go together. Some of them are the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLB. We wouldn’t be surprised if the XC40 moved up in the rankings a few spots. Once a test vehicle is brought in and put through many tests and evaluations, we’ll know for sure. Pros vs Cons Pros High-quality materials are used to make the inside look nice. Clever ways to store cargo and small items Many standard safety features are easy to use. Cons The touchscreen interface is hard to figure out at first. The class can only carry a certain amount of cargo. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? Most people should be happy with the Core trim, which has many safety features and a long list of standard equipment. If you often go on long, boring trips, you should get the Plus trim and the Driver Assist package, which comes with the Pilot Assist system with adaptive cruise control. Volvo XC40 vehicles The Volvo XC40 is a small luxury SUV that will be available in 2023 in three trim levels: Core, Plus, and Ultimate. Two engines can be used with these trim levels. The base B4 has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine makes 194 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque and drives the front wheels. All-wheel drive gives the B5 engine more power (247 hp, 258 lb-ft). 2023 Volvo XC40 Video Review
