2024 Ford Edge Overview

What’s new

The Edge has more space, accessible controls, and a more comfortable body than other two-row SUVs. It doesn’t stand out because it’s the best at one thing but because it’s good at everything. But it is an excellent example of a good showing in the middle of the road. Also, it has reached the end of its life. Ford is giving it the most useless send-off possible in 2024 by not making any changes to it.

Since 2018, Ford has added three new non-car models to its lineup (or four if you count the electric Mustang Mach-E as a non-car). This is to make room for more SUVs. The Bronco, Bronco Sport, and EcoSport are some of these. During that time, its three mainstays, the Escape, the Explorer, and the Expedition, have all been redesigned. Because of this, the Blue Oval is on several new SUVs. Given these other goals, it’s not surprising that Ford needs to pay more attention to the Edge, which was last redesigned in 2015. There is a rumour that an electric SUV will replace this model on the assembly line this year. On the other hand, the Edge will be made until 2024. It will probably be the same spacious, quiet, and comfy SUV Ford has been driving for nine years.

The Edge plays in the middle of the SUV market, where most people buy SUVs and have many choices. The excellent Honda Passport, the car-like Subaru Outback, and the Toyota Venza hybrid are some of its major competitors. The first two have been used for a long time and are known for being reliable and valuable. The Venza is a relatively new car that gets much better gas mileage than other cars in the same class.

All-wheel drive comes standard on the Edge, while other cars only give it as an extra. Also, the SE level comes with helpful driving assistance features like automatic emergency braking and blind-spot warning. We do like the touchpad entry system that some Ford fans insist on, the synthetic leather seating, the power-adjustable heated front seats, and the SEL trim, which is in the middle.

Types of Ford Edge

The 2024 Ford Edge has five trim levels: SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and the performance-focused ST. Except for the ST, all Edge models come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 250-hp, 280-lb-ft, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The ST has a more powerful 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine with a seven-speed automatic gearbox (335 hp, 380 lb-ft). All-wheel drive is built into every model and sends power from both engines to all four wheels.
