2025 GMC Canyon Overview What’s new: By 2025, not much will have changed. A part of the third version of Canyons, which will come out in 2023. The 2025 GMC Canyon stands out as a visually appealing midsize pickup truck. Alongside its sibling, the Chevrolet Colorado, the Canyon underwent a significant redesign a few years back. All Canyon variants are equipped with all-terrain tires and a raised off-road suspension, making them ready for off-road adventures. The interior of the Canyon is equally impressive, featuring a striking 11-inch digital instrument panel and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless integration with your smartphone. The Canyon comes with the option to go off-road as standard. All trucks have off-road equipment and tires that can handle any surface. The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is the most advanced off-road vehicle in the line. The front and back bumpers are made of steel, and the underbody has steel skid plates. The tires are 35 inches wide and made for off-road use. They are wrapped around 17-inch wheels that can be beadlocked. You will have to pay more for the AEV Edition, but it is really great. There is no doubt that the truck you choose will be able to go off-road, no matter what type you choose. Other trucks might interest you besides the GMC Canyon, even though it has a lot to offer. Toyota’s Tacoma and Ford’s Ranger are both well-known trucks that would be great options. Both were redesigned last year. For fun in the sun, think about the Jeep Gladiator or the Honda Ridgeline. Both are very comfortable on the road. Pros vs Cons Pros Strong, and it can pull up to a lot of weight. It’s easy to control and ride on both dirt and tarmac. The infotainment system that is built on Google is easy to use. Cons The back seats are not comfortable. Performance How does Canyon like to drive? One of the best pickup trucks you can buy today is the Canyon. The powerful four-cylinder turbocharged engine had a lot less power than the AT4X model we tried. With its better handling, wheels, and tires, the AT4X Canyon is heavier, which makes it seem a little slower. Our truck went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. You should expect a Canyon to take more than 6 seconds. It’s easy to steer the Canyon on the highway thanks to its well-weighted steering. The better Canyon trims, like the AT4X, can easily handle off-road paths with rocks and other obstacles. Comfort How cozy does the Canyon look? The Canyon’s ride comfort is good for a pickup truck. It’s not soft, but it’s also not stiff. The Canyon doesn’t get shaken up by big holes and bumpy roads because it can handle them well. The upgraded suspension in AT4X models makes them even better on city streets and roads, giving you a smoother, more enjoyable ride. The seats aren’t as nice as some of our competitors, and they don’t support our thighs as much as we’d like. The padding is nice, but the sides of the seats in both rows are very flat. Like a lot of General Motors cars, the Canyon has one of the best temperature control systems out there. While the air conditioner blasts cold, the heated seats keep your back and bottom nice and cozy. Moreover, we like how each temperature control has its own buttons and knobs for each setting. We really like that GMC gives back travelers their own air vents that are easy to aim at. We saw that the Canyon was pretty quiet from the street. Interior How is the inside? The inside of the Chevrolet Colorado, which is the Canyon’s corporate twin, is very similar to the Canyon’s. It’s helpful in this case because we like how both cars are set up. The buttons can be seen and reached. There are also a number of actual buttons that can be used for things like selecting four-wheel drive and changing drive modes. But some physical tools are left out. The touchscreen is used to turn the lights on and off instead of a knob or switch. It’s an odd choice since there are so many other buttons. Getting in and out of the Canyon depends on the trim level, even though all of them are pretty tall. On the higher AT4X model, there should be a grab hold on the driver’s side instead of not having one. Inside, passengers have a good amount of room. The head and legroom are about average for the class, but there isn’t much space in the back seat. On top of that, vision is average. The mirrors are placed on purpose to give you a great view while avoiding blind spots, and the windows are tall and straight up. Technology How does the tech work? The GMC pickup trucks have some of the most cutting-edge features inside of them right now. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard and stand out. Both can connect to your phone wirelessly. The Canyon also comes with a wireless charging stand. Google runs the information and navigates screens. Your calendar, emails, and saved addresses will sync with the car if you sign in with a Google account. It’s especially helpful if you use Google Maps a lot to find your way. Google also lets you use your mouth. The system can do anything, from changing its surroundings to answering online questions. It also does a good job of following directions. That is wonderful. The Canyon has many features to help the driver, like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning, and many different camera angles, including an off-roading underbody camera. When we tried the systems, they worked great. Storage How are the moving and storage going? The Canyon only comes in one style: the crew cab with a 5-foot bed. Since it’s wide, it’s easy to load the bed. Even though the high sides make the bed bigger, they also make it harder to get in from the side. The Canyon has one of the best towing and hauling scores in its class, even though its specs aren’t great. The Canyon can hold up to 1,700 pounds, depending on how it is set up. When the door is down, there are hooks and an adjustable panel that make it easy to secure cargo. It can also haul, with a maximum capacity of 7,700 pounds. You don’t have to go to a full-size car dealership to find the best one. Other homes in the Canyon have more storage space than the house. Because it doesn’t have as many pockets and sections as the Taco and Ranger, it’s not as useful. The small storage space behind the back seats is useful, though. Fuel Economy How much fuel does it use? The EPA says that the Canyon will get 16 to 22 mpg in both city and highway driving, depending on how it is set up. As its gas mileage rating goes down, the car can go off-road better. Some midsize trucks get better gas mileage. Value Does the Canyon have a lot to offer? GMC plans to make the Canyon a bit more expensive than the average midsize pickup truck, but they might not say it out loud. This is why its starting price is a few thousand dollars more than those of its rivals. Chevrolet has a pickup that is almost the same but costs a little less. The inside of the truck is no better than what you might find elsewhere, even though the fit and finish are great, and there are no rattles or squeaks that we can see. The Canyon has a standard warranty that lasts three years or 36,000 miles, and a powertrain guarantee that lasts five years or 60,000 miles. In addition, GMC offers free maintenance for a year and roadside help for five years or 60,000 miles. Wildcard Midsize cars are usually more fun to drive than full-size trucks, especially when going off-road because they are smaller. The Canyon is more than capable when things get tough, especially when set up in AT4 and AT4X modes. It’s clear, though, that the Canyon’s rivals will stay strong in the truck market. Driving it on the road is a little nicer than driving most other cars, but not by much. The Canyon looks very different from the Chevy Colorado, and GMC did a great job with that. Both trucks are strong and look good, but they aren’t as flashy as a full-size pickup with metal. The Canyon is also much less common on the road than the Toyota Tacoma.
