How one operates the Elantra. The standard engine is a four-cylinder 2.4-liter unit that could be faster. Our Elantra was the slowest of the cars we tested at Invoice pricing track, reaching 60 mph in 9.4 seconds. It is okay, but you might need help passing and getting up to highway speeds.

Because Hyundai prioritised fuel economy over driving pleasure, the vehicle’s little output is channelled through a continuously variable automatic transmission. However, when driving, usually, the information provides a quiet and comfortable ride, unlike other CVTs.

The Elantra fits into the standard in most other respects. It handles turns reasonably well for a vehicle of its size, remains consistent in its behaviour, and seems unfazed by bumps. Take the N Line if you are looking for a more exciting commute. It has performance-tuned suspension.

How pleasant is the Elantra’s cabin for long trips? The Elantra has a comfortable ride. The suspension is soft enough to absorb road shock, yet it soon returns to its standard ride height. The seats are comfortable as well. The driver’s heart appears flat and may not be sufficiently supportive for extended drives. When you turn, only minor side support keeps you in place.

The two-zone climate control at your disposal includes bold, simple buttons. The heated seats automatically activate whenever they are used. More wind noise is audible at higher speeds, but this is par for the course for this class, and everyday conversation volume may be maintained throughout most of the journey.

Just how is the inner condition? The Elantra’s interior is well-built, with sufficient space for four adults and a commanding view out the front windows. We are overjoyed that the rear seat now offers two extra inches of legroom compared to the previous generation. The Elantra is one of the roomiest vehicles, so passengers can stretch out comfortably even if their heads do not reach the ceiling.

In the Elantra Limited, we tested, the driver’s seat was powered and adjustable. It may be adjusted to accommodate a wide variety of driver heights. The steering wheel can be adjusted in several ways, making selecting a comfortable position while driving simple.

How reliable is the technology, exactly? Elantra Limited’s two displays are intuitive. The first controls the entertainment features, while the second operates the instruments. The infotainment system’s user interface is straightforward. The Elantra’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are pluses, offsetting the car’s smaller 8-inch tablet. The 10.25-inch screen requires a connection to use any smartphone interaction mode.

The Limited also benefits from upgraded voice-activated internet searching, navigation, and climate control technology. One of the best things about current technology is the additional set of smart driving aids, such as lane centering and smooth adaptive cruise control. We did not encounter any false positives during our testing.

How about stowing it all away? The trunk is more significant than usual for the segment at 14.2 cubic feet, the same as the trunk in the outgoing generation of the Elantra. The remote-release latches in the box are an alternative to the ones on the seats for those who find it more convenient. Front-seat passengers are accustomed to having access to amenities like cupholders and storage compartments. One convenient feature exclusive to the Limited trim is a wireless charging stand for mobile devices.

Each rear seat has two exterior pegs installed to secure kid safety seats. The anchors are conveniently located between the seats. The back seat is spacious, so you will not have to switch seats with the driver to load a rear-facing child safety seat.

How efficient is its utilisation of gas? Elantra models with the 2.0-liter engine achieve between 34 and 37 mpg combined city/highway. In either case, you will enjoy excellent gas mileage. We averaged 41.8 mpg on a 115-mile mixed-driving test route, far higher than the EPA had forecasted.

Is Elantra a good choice? You have identified an ideal environment for the Elantra. It is superior to the competition thanks to its more extended warranty coverage (limited warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles, powertrain warranty of 10 years/100,000 miles, and free maintenance for three years/36,000 miles). We appreciate how many standard features are included with each model at an affordable price. Our only complaints are the excessive use of hard plastic and the lack of flair in the rear seat.

The Elantra impresses with its stylish exterior, extensive and transparent displays, and helpful voice prompts. But there is nothing in there about whipping up enthusiasm, and that makes sense. Hyundai did not make a mediocre purchase; instead, they invested in a true workhorse. This is why we had to make the N Line variant the way we did.

Official information on the 2024 Elantra has yet to be released by Hyundai. We recommend the SEL trim based on last year’s model, but we will revise this if necessary. Most crucially, the Elantra may be equipped with the optional Convenience package, which adds many features that vastly improve the car’s use. Several of its components are both entertaining and practical.
