2024 Ford F-150 Raptor Overview What’s new Modernizing the way things look. It now comes with a digital instrument panel and a 12-inch touchscreen. The price of the PowerBoost hybrid went down, and the standard V6 was taken off the market. Changes to the features that are available and the trim level lineup. A piece of the 14th generation F-150, which will go on sale in 2021. The Ford F-150 has consistently dominated its market, unlike many other cars. Ford’s light-duty pickup truck is very popular because it comes with a lot of options. The F-150 is a great choice whether you want an off-road vehicle, a high-class cruiser, or a work truck that won’t break the bank. It comes with a lot of different engines, from the standard V6 to a powerful hybrid plan. There’s even an all-electric F-150 called the Lightning that we’ll talk about separately. There are different cab and bed sizes, as well as a huge number of features, such as the Pro Power Onboard system, which charges many devices at once. The F-150 also has gone through the most changes since it was first released for the 2021 model year, which makes it even better for 2024. The most noticeable changes are Ford’s exterior changes. As a nod to the F-series trucks from the 1970s, lower trim levels have a full-width grille that goes all the way around the headlights. Better grades also have new grille treatments. Inside, all F-150 models now come with a 12-inch digital gauge cluster as standard. The small center screen has been replaced with a 12-inch touchscreen display. Another technological advance is a new version of Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving aid that makes it more useful in crowded areas. Ford’s base 3.3-liter V6 engine with naturally aspirated air flow has been taken off the market. It now has a 2.7-liter V6 turbocharged engine as its base engine. Ford says that the more powerful Raptor R’s 5.2-liter V8 engine will get even stronger, but it doesn’t say how much. The power outputs of the other engines have not changed, but Ford has said that the optional PowerBoost hybrid will now cost the same as the optional 3.5-liter V6 turbocharged. A new view of the tailgate is another addition. The optional Pro Access Tailgate has a 20/60/20 split in the middle section that hinges on the right side. Like any other door in your house, it opens to three fixed positions: 37 degrees, 70 degrees, and 100 degrees. The goal is to make it easier to get to the truck’s bed in places where a regular drop-down tailgate wouldn’t work. A small storage space hidden in the side of the truck near the taillights is another small but useful feature. There is a lot of competition in the F-150 market, and Blue Oval is always making changes to its best-selling truck to stay ahead. The updates for 2024 should keep the F-150 at the top of its game and the top of our list of trucks. In 2022 and 2023, Invoice Pricing said the F-150 was the best truck. In many ways, it did better than its competitors, and it got high marks in every category. If you still can’t decide which truck to buy, the Ram 1500 might be a good choice. It’s the most comfortable truck to ride in and the best truck to compete with the current F-150. You should also take a look at the recently remodeled Toyota Tundra and the long-time competitor to the F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Pros vs Cons Pros Many types of engines, such as hybrid and all-electric cars. Even from the hybrid, it has amazing maximum pulling power. An easy-to-use entertainment system with a beautiful 12-inch screen. Many choices work for trucks, like having a generator on board. Cons The storage spaces inside could be bigger or more flexible. The generator on board makes noise when the optional hybrid powertrain is running. Performance What gives the F-150 its power? Ford has a lot of different engines and body styles to choose from. We tested the hybrid drivetrain in a 4WD crew cab. Edmund’s tests showed that it went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is a lot faster than any other pickup with the same specs. The gas engine doesn’t seem as smooth at low speeds as the non-hybrid turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines, based on how it starts and stops. All powertrains can smoothly and quickly switch between speeds thanks to the 10-speed automatic transmission. The F-150’s steering is quick and straight. This makes the car feel more agile and small in parking lots, and it also makes it feel more stable on the highway. You can be sure that the strong brakes will stop the car even when the hybrid powertrain is regaining power. The F-150 is a fun truck to drive all around because it can pull a lot of weight and carry a lot of it. Comfort How cozy does the F-150 feel? What you choose and what you don’t choose can change how comfortable the F-150 is to drive. The front chairs can support you and have three levels of lumbar support: heating, air flow, and even a massage function. If you choose the Max Recline option, the front seats can be folded almost flat for sleeping or resting. However, they are less comfortable overall or with side support than the standard seats. The Ram’s unique coil-spring rear suspension makes the ride a little smoother than the F-150’s, but both cars are comfortable to ride in. The tires, the road, and the wind don’t make much noise. Most of the engines that can be used in the F-150 are quiet and have a nice sound. The only one that needs to be added is the optional PowerBoost hybrid, which makes noises and vibrations like a portable gas generator while charging the battery. The climate control system is strong and effective, so it doesn’t need many changes to keep the temperature where you want it to be. Interior How is the condition of the inside? The F-150 can have a huge number of options and controls, depending on how it is set up. Luckily, the interior design is easy to understand, so you never have to guess what you’re trying to do. Most of the big knobs and controls on the truck can be used with gloves on. Adjusting the seat, steering wheel, and pedals in a lot of different ways makes sure that drivers of all shapes and sizes are comfortable. The crew cab is big, so there’s a lot of room for everyone. Large windows and a scalloped edge on the front door let a lot of light through to the side mirrors, making it easier to see. The surround-view camera system, which can be accessed from anywhere, lets you see everything around you. Technology What is there to do with technology? There are a lot of cutting-edge technological features in the F-150. The digital gauge cluster and 12-inch touchscreen in the middle are both easy to use and nice to look at. Basic advanced driver aids are standard, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphones are also built-in. Additionally, there are a lot of other choices. One great feature is Pro Power Onboard, which turns the F-150 into a generator in a way. By putting power outlets in the bed, this feature changes how you camp, tailgate, build, and be off the grid. Based on the powertrain, it can produce 2.0 kW, 2.4 kW, or 7.2 kW of power. The BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance system is another thing we like about it. Storage What’s going on with storage and tow? It’s best to haul and tow with a light-duty pickup truck like the F-150. The F-150 can pull up to 13,500 pounds when it is set up and equipped correctly. That should be enough for most light-duty truck owners, and we’ve found that the 3.5-liter V6 and PowerBoost hybrid powertrains give you enough power to tow safely. Another thing that makes the F-150 better than its competitors is that it can carry up to 2,455 pounds of cargo. The F-150 has a smaller cargo bed, but it should be able to handle almost any job you give it. Fuel Economy How well does the fuel work? The EPA says that the F-150 gets good gas mileage, which is one of its strong points. For instance, the F-150 with rear-wheel drive and the 3.5-liter V6 engine are expected to get 20 mpg on the highway and in cities. That’s better than a Silverado or Ram with a V8 engine. The best gas mileage in the lineup is found in the F-150 hybrid, which gets 25 mpg combined (RWD) or 23 mpg combined (4WD). All gas engines need fuel with an octane level of 87, and fuel tanks can hold anywhere from 23 to 36 gallons. But during the years of testing, Ford’s turbocharged engines always did worse than what the EPA said they would. Value Should you buy the Ford F-150? In higher trim levels, this truck has high-end features on top of a strong and well-equipped chassis. The real value of the F-150 lies in its wide range of configurations and options, which let customers make their truck fit their needs exactly. This is in addition to its strong standard features, which make it a confident competitor to other models. Ford is better than GM and Ram when it comes to ownership benefits and warranties, but it’s about the same when it comes to other areas. Wildcard The F-150 gives you the chance to brag if that’s important to you. It gets the best gas mileage for a non-diesel engine and can pull the most and carry the most. People in your neighborhood and friends will hear about it. You can also paint the F-150 in some really cool ways. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? Ford hasn’t told everyone everything they know about the 2024 F-150 yet. From what we know about the F-150 from last year, the XLT trim is the best deal. If anything changes, we’ll let you know. The engines are the same as the Lariat and XLT trims, and most of the features found in the much more expensive Lariat trim can be added to the XLT. You have to go up to the Lariat trim, though, if you want the BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system. Different Ford F-150 models You can get the Ford F-150 in seven different trim levels: XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Platinum Plus. In addition to the standard models, you can get the Tremor, Raptor, and Raptor R, which are designed to handle rough terrain. The length of the bed changes based on the type of cab: regular, SuperCab (extended), and SuperCrew (crew cab). There are six different powertrains for the F-150, as well as different trim levels and cab configurations. The Limited, Tremor, Raptor, and Raptor R are the only models that don’t have a 10-speed automatic transmission with these. 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor Video Review
