Our Opinion - 2025 Lexus ES Review

The Lexus ES offers a stylish interior, a very quiet and comfortable ride, a smooth suspension, and many standard features. You can choose from three engine options: a smooth V6, a fuel-efficient hybrid, and a mild four-cylinder. If everything is going well, you can end your journey here. If you want to boost interaction, consider other options. Lexus tries to make its cars more exciting with F Sport upgrades, but these changes only offer small improvements and take away some of the ES’s natural comfort. The ES is Lexus’ best-selling sedan for a reason: even though it’s not the fastest car, it offers great value compared to top German competitors. The Toyota Camry, which is cheaper, costs about $10,000 less and offers two hybrid engine choices along with many similar features.

The Black Line Special Edition bundle is new for 2025. It is offered on the ES350 F Sport Handling package, which adds F Sport puddle lamps as well as a few black-painted external items like mirror caps, a lip spoiler, and a rocker trim spear. The package costs $1500, but you’ll need to pay an additional $2465 for extras. Only 1000 of these will be made.

Pros

  • Spacious and luxurious surroundings.
  • Available gas for hybrid drinking.
  • Great value for the cost.

Cons

  • Bad Driving Habits.
  • The combined power system is not well-developed.
  • Standard technology that isn’t very exciting.

The Lexus ES comes with three engine choices. The ES250 has all-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 203 horsepower as basic features. All ES350 models come with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that generates 302 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels. All ES300h grades are driven by a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with a net output of 215 horsepower; standard features include front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This Lexus sedan offers smooth driving and a comfortable ride, which many luxury car buyers look for. The F Sport version comes with bigger wheels and a suspension designed for better performance, but it may not be suitable for people who prefer tight cornering. Even with these improvements, the ES is still not as agile as rivals like the BMW 5-series.

All ES models include Lexus’s Safety System+ 2.5. This system has features that help drivers, like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot tracking, and the ability to detect pedestrians and cyclists. Key safety factors include:

  • Automatic emergency braking usually detects cyclists and walkers.
  • Lane-keeping help and standards lane departure warning.
  • Adaptive cruise control comes as a basic feature.

The ES’s cabin offers a comfortable experience with its stylish, uneven dashboard and good-quality materials. People with long legs will find that both rows have plenty of space and the seats are comfortable. Surprisingly, the car stays pretty quiet even when the ES is driven on the highway. The ES has 17.0 cubic feet of trunk room, which is more than the Volvo S90 and Acura TLX, both of which have 14.0 cubic feet. This is true for both the gas-only and hybrid versions of the ES. Unfortunately, the ES does not offer a back seat that folds down. As a result, this Lexus has difficulty carrying big loads.

The EPA says the Lexus ES350 gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway. The ES300h hybrid is much more economical, with ratings of 43/44 mpg. The EPA expects the ES250 to get 25 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. In our real-world speed fuel economy test at 75 mph, we got 39 mpg with the ES350. The ES300h achieved 45 miles per gallon on a 200-mile test route, while the ES250 only got 33 miles per gallon.

Buyers of luxury cars want the latest technology, and the Lexus ES sedan offers it. There is a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen option, but the standard model comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that works well with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to connect your devices easily. Every model comes with a SiriusXM satellite radio and a 10-speaker sound system. Common tech features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Scout GPS Link for tracking, Bluetooth for phone calls and music, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.

On our test track, the V-6 ES350 went from a stop to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. The hybrid ES300h took 8.3 seconds to finish the sprint, and the all-wheel-drive ES250 took 8.1 seconds, which are both slower times. The ES300h F Sport we tried went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds, giving it a small advantage.

While we usually suggest a high-end mid-grade version or the sportiest model of a car, moving to the ES350 with Ultra Luxury features is a better fit for what this luxury sedan is designed to offer. The Ultra Luxury trim has special 18-inch wheels, soft quilted leather seats, a power trunk that opens without using your hands, a power rear screen, and a steering wheel made of wood and leather. You also need to order the Navigation package, which comes with the car’s Enform Destination Assist service, built-in navigation, a rearview mirror that adjusts glare, a DVD player, voice recognition, and a bigger 12.3-inch screen for entertainment and information.
