2023 BMW X1 Overview

What’s new:

  • Changes made for the year 2023
  • A lot of new technologies and tools to help drivers
  • The X1 moves into its third generation.

BMW has updated its base SUV, the X1, for 2023. New L-shaped blades have been added to each corner of the front and back. It’s one of the better BMW designs we’ve seen recently, and it looks a lot better than its predecessor, which was kind of boring. The new X1 is also wider, taller, and longer than the old one, and there is almost an inch more space between the front and back wheels. This adds more space to an SUV that was already one of the roomiest in its class and lets you carry a little more stuff.

The new X1 has BMW’s most recent interior design philosophy. Both the 10.7-inch touchscreen and the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are made of glass. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is angled toward the driver. There are no longer more than one level of climate controls and preset buttons in the centre stack. Instead, you can find these features in the menus and submenus of the infotainment system. Two new BMW models with this feature are the all-electric iX and the high-end 7 Series sedan.

Note that the X1, unlike the iX and 7 Series, no longer has a knob for controlling the iDrive. This has been a standard part of BMW infotainment systems for over 20 years, but the new X1 doesn’t have it. Instead, you have to use the touchscreen or the system’s powerful voice commands to get to its functions and settings. The system works well and has a lot of options, but we don’t like how long it takes to move through the menus and how much it makes you look away from the road. Even though BMW recommends voice commands and they work well, they feel like a quick fix for a bad design. When the iDrive controller is taken out, the central console is easier to get to. This makes the new X1 feel more open and gives it more storage space than before.

The BMW X1 can be equipped with a lot of new technologies. The X1 now comes standard with both wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity for smartphones. The new safe-exit feature of the blind-spot warning system warns you if you are about to open your door into oncoming traffic. Other great features include an augmented reality display on the navigation system, updated video recording technology for accidents and theft, and the ability to drive the car without using your hands in some situations.

The new X1 is still one of the best-handling cars in its class, just like the old one. Even though the ride is a little rough on the road, the car handles well and feels surprisingly athletic. When you have all-wheel drive as standard, you never lose traction. We have the most trouble with the brake pedal. It felt very solid and sensitive, which was strange. We wouldn’t worry about the brakes in an emergency because they worked well enough. We think a luxury SUV should have a little more style.

Even though the 2023 BMW X1 is a technological marvel, the interior isn’t much different from that of the more expensive cars in the lineup. It also drives well, thanks to responsive handling and a lively turbocharged engine. The X1 might be the SUV for you if you want a BMW with all the features of the big dogs but have a smaller budget.

Pros:

  • A good place to sit
  • There are a number of high-tech features available.
  • Standard four-wheel drive
  • Stable handling and ride

Cons:

  • Pricey add-on packages
  • It might be hard to figure out how to use the technology in a car.

Options are the most important thing about the new X1. For the best deal, you should look for an X1 with only the Convenience package. Even more features are available, but the price increases that come with them are hard to explain. For the same price, you could get the base model of the smaller X3.

In 2023, you can only get the BMW X1 in the xDrive28i trim level. It has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is 2.0 litres in size and makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This small SUV has an all-wheel drive system, which is called “xDrive.” A dual-clutch automatic transmission with seven speeds gives the car power.
