The Audi Q5’s front and rear fascia are revised, and new headlights and taillights have been added for 2022. Each engine receives a new 12-volt mild-hybrid powertrain, resulting in a 13-horsepower increase over the base model. As a result, the Q5 now has 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque as standard. 

Real-world driving scenarios may only see a slight improvement in fuel economy, but the auto start-stop engine function should be more reliable. Additionally, the 349-hp plug-in hybrid from 2020 gets a boost to 362-hp.

This year, a more user-friendly 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a menu screen that drivers can customize will be added to the vehicle. For smartphone app integration, Apple CarPlay is now required as well.

This vehicle is only available as a small luxury SUV in 2022 when Audi releases the Q5.

The Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels of the 2022 Audi Q5 are all available options. The automatic transmission is mated to a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. The Q5 PHEV plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 4-cylinder engine and hybrid components was introduced last year. Before the gas engine kicks in, it can go up to 20 miles on just electricity.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone app integration are standard on the Premium trim level, along with a 4-zone automatic climate control. Also included as part of the standard equipment are a forward collision warning system and automatic emergency braking.

Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system replaces the standard instrument cluster with a digital one, as well as a panoramic sunroof, larger wheels, and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system. When you upgrade to the Prestige trim, you’ll get a power steering wheel with tilt and telescoping capabilities, better driver assistance features, and a better sound system.

Some of the packages include Black Optics, Cold and Warm Weather, among others. Many of Prestige’s standard features are optional on the Premium Plus.

The 2022 Audi Q5 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds thanks to a strong engine and smooth pedal modulation. Furthermore, modulating the brake pedal is simple, and the pedal stays firm as you drive. Stability control can be intrusive in some situations, but when the vehicle is rounding corners, it feels secure enough to not need it.

Transmission shifts between gears smoothly thanks to the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The vehicle doesn’t waste time looking for equipment because it knows exactly where it needs to be. It has the appearance of being fine-tuned for use with a turbocharger.

Due to a smaller stature, the Q5 can easily be squeezed into spaces that are otherwise difficult to access. As a result, the driver doesn’t have to rely on the standard rear-view camera or optional blind-spot monitoring system to be their extra pair of eyes while operating the vehicle.

The Q5’s cabin offers plenty of room for passengers and their luggage. Although the seats initially appear firm, they actually conform to the shape of the occupant’s back and offer plenty of support for long trips. Upper-trim models come standard with leather upholstery that is sufficiently permeable, and ventilated front seats are available as an option. The cabin is quiet, with only the engine making noise when the accelerator is pressed all the way down.

The 2022 Audi Q5’s fuel economy is adequate. AWD 4-cylinder competitors get 22 mpg combined, while the gas engine gets 24 mpg combined. Real-world driving has revealed that the Q5 can get up to 28 mpg on the highway, which is much better than anticipated.

With that said, the 2022 Audi Q5 is far from a snooze-fest. It strikes a good power-to-fuel efficiency ratio and comes well-equipped as a base model, making it a serious contender for the 2022 model year.
