2024 Nissan Altima Overview

What’s new?

  • 2024 won’t change much.
  • 2019 saw the sixth Nissan Altima.

Midsize family cars are losing sales to crossover SUVs. The Nissan Altima remains in production. Altimas have attractive looks, reasonable costs, turbocharged engines, and all-wheel drive. It’s missing a vital element that would set it apart from the class.

A four-cylinder 188-horsepower engine and a turbocharged 248-horsepower engine power the Altima. The second one, Nissan’s VC-Turbo, can automatically modify the compression ratio to boost power or save gasoline. Great idea, bad execution. 93 octane fuel accelerates slowly. The VC-Turbo will also achieve less than the EPA-estimated 29 mpg if you press the accelerator more often and harder.

Rivals to consider

Toyota and Honda are good. The 2023 Accord will be redesigned, and the 2025 Camry will debut. 2024 Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5 updates. Invoice Pricing rates these cars higher.

Pros

  • Simple person
  • Many driver-assist technology

Cons

  • The low-resolution backup camera and large roof pillars obscure the view.
  • Turning can be gradual and hard to feel.
  • Bad interior design.
  • No electric engines

Altima driving: how? The Altima stops and accelerates poorly. Our 2.5-liter all-wheel-drive Altima reached 60 mph in 8.4 seconds. A well-tuned CVT transmission makes the Altima a nearly unnoticeable daily driver.

Stable driving is another benefit. The Altima handles rapid, wide curves with confidence. The Altima drives nicely but has mushy, confusing steering.

Is the Altima comfortable? Watching life from the Altima is relaxing. Most drivers appreciate the front seats, while some want thigh support. Engine noise separation is good at high speeds.

Driving on bumpy roads is less appealing. The Altima’s ride looks active, and harsher hits can be surprising.

The interior? Though ugly, the interior is useful. The touchscreen and temperature settings include large, easy-to-read labelling.

The Altima’s high rear decklid obscures rear view. When the sun is out, the dashboard and back decklid reflections and low-resolution rearview camera are complaints.

Tech quality? A 12.3-inch tablet Nissan Altima was examined. Very large. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support its built-in guidance. Because of its speed and screen size, the program seems current despite its age.

Good navigation. We tested it and found places using Google searches. The map images are outdated. When you use Google or Apple Maps on your phone, the maps look fine. The backup and surround-view camera screens are blurry and low-resolution, making nighttime use difficult. Altima ProPilot Assist is nice. Low-speed adaptive cruise control with lane centering. Adaptive cruise control makes navigating heavy traffic a breeze.

Storing things? Altima trunks can fit two full-size luggage. It fills quickly due to its square form. The folding back seats are only accessible by pulling a tab in the trunk. When unbuckled, they don’t fold down. To lower them, pull the seat back from inside. Small items fit well on front seats. Taller drinks don’t fit in cup holders.

Is it gas efficient? The EPA rates the all-wheel-drive Altima at 30 mpg. Our mixed-driving, real-world test yielded 34 mpg. The Altima should get decent MPG.

Is the Altima price fair? The Altima is a spacious midsize sedan with all-wheel drive. Average warranties and roadside support. Long-distance drivers in inclement weather may buy a car with good highway gas mileage and all-wheel drive.

However, the Altima’s work isn’t as good and lacks intricacy. The dashboard-windshield gaps and misaligned hood make it stand out from better-made cars.

The new Altima’s similarity to other automobiles is good. The Altima’s driving and living situations aren’t great, but it’s more than that. To finish in the middle, you need a good automobile. The Nissan is comfortable for regular driving and easy to drive.

Nissan has not commented on the 2024 Altima. Based on last year’s Altima, we recommend the SR trim. Its sportier appearance may help sell the Altima. Nissan reserves the Altima’s strong turbocharged engine for the SR model, which also offers an appealing Premium package.
