The 2024 Nissan Sentra is a new small car that is stylish and cheap. It’s not just a simple plan, which is good. Many essential driving tools, like blind-spot warnings, come as standard. The car also has a big trunk and comfy, lovely seats. How do you move the Sentra? The Sentra has good acceleration off the line, but it loses power as the speed goes up. It took 8.8 seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour. That’s normal for small cars but the same as the Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla. The Sentra’s continuously variable automatic transmission is typically quiet and smooth when driven. When trying to slow down, you may need to use the brakes more often than you think because letting off the gas doesn’t do much to make the engine stop.

The brake pedal is comfortable and easy to use in most cases. On the other hand, the emergency brakes don’t work well. Our test Sentra stopped at 131 feet from 60 mph. In contrast, the average length of a piece is about 123 feet. The steering and handling could be better, but the average user should be able to live with that.

How comfy is the inside of the Sentra? One of the best things about the Sentra is its comfort. The ride’s excellent balance makes any road bumps go away immediately. But when going fast, the softness of the Sentra can make it feel like it’s flying. The continual road noise doesn’t bother me, and the music rapidly drowns it out.

There is enough padding and support on the front seats. Surprisingly, the back row has the best seats in the house. They are soft and comfortable and can fit two people of medium size. Even though the temperature control isn’t excellent, the airflow from the vents is refined. Our test car had no air vents in the back, which is odd for vehicles in this class.

How does the inside look? Whether you want to change the radio or the temperature, the buttons are easy to use and easy for both the driver and the passenger to reach. The 8-inch touch screen is easy to read and use.

The first row will have plenty of room. This model has the most space in the back of any car in its class. Most drivers will find it easy to find a relaxed position because the seat and the steering wheel can be adjusted in several ways. Even though you can see the front and sides well, it’s hard to see out the back because of the giant rear roof pillars and sloped back window.

How good is the tech? The Sentra has many basic safety features and tools to help you drive. Even though choices like adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree parking camera system are available, Nissan’s basic safety systems are often very well made. Even though Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone merging are standard, the infotainment system is slow to respond and looks old. The Sentra doesn’t come with a GPS from Nissan.

What about putting things away? The Sentra has more trunk room than most small cars, at 14.3 cubic feet. The back seats split 60/40, can be moved down to accommodate longer things. No releases are in the trunk, so the only way to get them is from the back seat. Also, loading longer items like a flat-screen TV may be more challenging because the seats don’t fold down.

Even though the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta are better in this way, there is enough space inside for small things, glasses, and bottles. There is also enough room for child seats, but the cushions may make it hard to reach the bases for the car seats.

How well does it use gasoline? The EPA says that the Sentra gets 33 mpg overall (29 in the city and 39 on the highway), which is typical for a car with the standard engine in this class. Our test car got an average of 28.7 mpg over three fill-ups, with a best fill of 32 mpg. Based on the data from the EPA, that is slightly less than we predicted.

Is it wise to buy a Sentra? The Sentra is affordable. It costs less than most cars in its class and comes with many essential tools and safety features. The interior is comfortable and looks expensive. On the other hand, our test car wasn’t built as well as it could have been. The biggest problem was some noticeable gaps in the inside trim.

Nissan offers an essential three years or 36,000 miles warranty, a powertrain warranty of five years, or 60,000 miles, and roadside help for three years or 36,000 miles. Each is typical of a car company that doesn’t make expensive cars.

New Sentra gets you from A to B, but it’s more appealing than prior models. It’s a great car to drive daily because the inside is comfortable and stylish. But its top rivals can be just as comfortable and helpful while being more fun and exciting.

The Sentra SV is an excellent deal for its price. Inside and out, it looks better, and it has a new entertainment system and other features that you’ll enjoy using every day for as long as you own the car. The tempting All-Weather and SV Premium option packages can also be used.
