2023 Audi R8 Overview

What’s new:

  • A limited-edition trim level with very high performance is planned as a farewell.
  • In 2017, the second generation of the R8 will hit the market.

This is your last chance to dance. The beautiful naturally aspirated 10-cylinder supercar ends with the 2023 Audi R8, and a special-edition model will likely be made to mark the end of its long run. Audi recently announced updates for almost all of its vehicles for 2023 but strangely left out the R8 and a few other models, saying only that it would make more announcements later.

On the other hand, Audi told us that the gas-powered V10 would no longer be made. Executives have hinted for a few years that the current R8 will be phased out as the company steadily moves toward an electric future. No matter what name it ends up with, the replacement for the R8 is expected to come out within the next two to three years and will be powered by electricity.

There were rumors that a hybrid V8 could turn the current R8 into a fully electric car. With a new leader on the way, it looks unlikely. In 2023, a special-edition R8 could get the GT or even the RS name, which Audi’s most powerful cars already have. It could have a carbon-fiber body with a variety of air ducts, winglets, and spoilers to make at least 630 horsepower, which is the same amount that this engine makes in the Lamborghini Huracan (the present R8 has a top power output of 602 hp).

It will only last for a while. The gas-powered R8, which will be available as a 2023 model by the end of this year, will almost certainly do one last lap. Audi’s all-electric supercar will be towed into the pits in 2024 when it will be shown to the public for the first time.

Pros

  • V10 engine, high-rpm and happy
  • Handling that is quick and athletic
  • The inside is stylish and the ride is smooth.

Cons

  • Not all of Audi’s most advanced safety features for drivers are on the market.
  • Especially in a sports car, there isn’t much space to put things.

What is the R8’s speed? Audi R8 V10 Performance is like that of a high-priced sports car. It reached 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 3.0 seconds, an extremely rapid rate of acceleration. The brakes work well and consistently, making the vehicle easy to drive.

People are surprised by how easy it is to discover its excellent abilities and how fun it is to drive when you’re not putting the hammer down. In addition to its power, brakes, and grip, the R8’s steering adds a lot to the overall experience because it has the right amount of effort at low and high speeds, quick reflexes, and a sound input level.

How comfortable is the R8? The R8’s excellent performance does not come at the cost of its comfort. Even though the ride is stiff enough, it is not rough. It bends just enough to soften hard hits, and the basic R8’s adjustable suspension should give it even more range. The interior is known for blocking wind and traffic noises so that you can hear the beautiful V10 roar.

The only thing we don’t like about the R8 performance is that the backs of the sports seats can’t be adjusted. Also, the side support is too firm, which could be uncomfortable for people with bigger bodies. The standard R8 has more comfortable seats but isn’t as sporty.

How does the inside look? The clean, straightforward design of the modern cabin and its cutting-edge technology makes it easy to get used to. Even though you don’t have to do anything special to get in, taller people may have to work a little more complicated because the seats and roof are low and the side sill is wide. The aggressive seats and cockpit are made for an average-sized driver, but more prominent people may notice that the interior has shrunk a little after washing.

The R8 looks like a bigger coupe because it has a simple dashboard and no big screen in the middle. Several functions that used to be controlled by touchscreens on the instrument panel are now done with controls on the steering wheel.

How good is the tech? Because of its extensive feature set and intuitive interface, Audi’s MMI infotainment system remains one of the best available. Some users may need clarification because almost all functions are controlled by the instrument panel rather than by extra panels. Even though this sports car doesn’t have more advanced safety features, it’s hard to tell.

What about putting things away? Sports cars aren’t known for being helpful, and mid-engine vehicles are often less valuable than other cars in this way. Even though the R8 doesn’t have a lot of space inside for cargo, it has enough room for a weekend trip for two.

The front trunk is shallow but deep and has about eight cubic feet of space. It can hold a small carry-on bag or a few duffel bags. There is also a small shelf behind the seats, but it is less helpful than the Porsche 911. Your items can only be stored in small bins and shallow pockets.

How well does it use gasoline? The EPA says that the combined gas mileage is 15 mpg. On our mixed-driving test route of 115 miles, we got an average of 19.9 mpg. That’s good news, but to drive well, you must be very careful (our overall average was a dismal 13.3 mpg). They use more gas than some other sports cars.

Should you buy the R8? The R8 can be as expensive as a nice condo. Someone once said, “You can sleep in a car, but you can’t drive a house.” For the price, you get one of the most technologically advanced sports cars that will make you feel like a millionaire. That rate of return is excellent.

The R8 looks like it was cut from a single piece of aluminum and is made of only the best parts. The weight and action of each button and knob show off the best of what Audi has to offer.

The Audi R8 may not be the best for comfort and ease of use, but it is excellent in performance and fun. The R8 is made for thrilling, and it does so with a lot of speed and a very sure way of handling.

Even though you can see its 10-cylinder engine through the glass, the Audi R8 is still more stealthy than its flashier exotic cousins. The R8 looks just as good parked in front of an opera house as it does driving through the pit area of a racetrack. This is because its design is both elegant and practical.

If you like collecting cars, you should get whatever name Audi gives to its last limited-edition model. Its value will certainly go up over time. If you don’t want to race, choose the R8 V10 Performance RWD if you’re going to try out the V10 engine before the doors close. You get the beautiful sound of 10 cylinders and the more responsive handling of the rear-drive type. It’s also cheaper than the model with all-wheel drive.

Audi R8 Models Include

The Audi R8 is a two-door, mid-engine sports automobile that may have in either a coupe or a convertible configuration. The R8 Spyder is the second one, and it has a powered soft top. The R8 comes in two trim levels: the R8 V10 Performance RWD and the R8 V10 Performance Quattro (all-wheel drive). The coupe and the convertible are the same in every other way. As a farewell to the R8 range, Audi is planning a limited-edition, ultra-high-performance trim for 2023. We’d only expect it to be a coupe with all-wheel drive.
