2023 Toyota Camry Overview What’s new: The 19-inch bronze wheels on the SE Nightshade are now new. In 2018, the eighth generation of Camrys came out. Since 1983, when it first sold in the United States, the Toyota Camry has been one of its class’s best-selling and most successful sedans. The newest Camry is big, comfortable, stylish, and fun to drive, even if it’s not very exciting. It is one of the few cars in its class with all-wheel drive, which is excellent for people who live in snowy places but don’t want to drive an SUV. The 2023 Camry is the sixth year that this generation has been made since it came out in 2018. The average life of a Toyota sedan or crossover is five years, but the 2023 Camry will mostly stay the same. The only significant change for this year is that the SE Nightshade Edition now has bronze-painted 19-inch alloy wheels instead of black 18-inch wheels. If you don’t want the Camry, you can choose something else. The Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5 are also great options for value and style. The Camry’s main competitor is the Honda Accord. Pros vs Cons Pros: Four-cylinder engine that gets the excellent gas mileage There is a lot of room for both people and things. It’s easy to drive because it’s easy to steer, and you can see out of it. As a standard, there is a complete set of tools for driver safety. Cons: A rough four-cylinder engine makes a lot of noise. At highway speeds, there is a lot of wind and noise. Performance How fast can the Camry go? We tested the Camry SE with four cylinders. Toyota has changed it so that it gets excellent gas mileage at the cost of being slow to get going. While the 8.2 second 0-60 mph of our test vehicle is less than stunning, the actual driving experience is more enjoyable. This is partly made up for by the transmission’s quick shifting and good responsiveness. With eight gears, there is always a gear that fits the situation. However, when you step on the gas, expect two-gear downshifts as the car tries to get by with the power it has. A sportier suspension gives the Camry SE a more hunkered-down feel. Even though it wasn’t made for very aggressive driving, it can handle the challenges that an average driver might throw at it every day. The Camry’s braking is about average for its class, and the brakes are easy to control with a light and quick pedal. Comfort What kind of comfort does the Camry offer? The Camry’s large, soft seats and smooth ride make it a superb choice for lengthy travels. The Camry has a powerful, easy-to-use climate control system that can cool the cabin even when the temperature is in the triple digits. This makes the interior comfortable for all passengers. The main problem with the Camry is that it lets too much outside noise in. At highway speeds, you can hear the wind and the road, as well as the engine buzz. There’s no doubt that the Camry is noisier than the average midsize car. Interior How does the inside look? The Camry’s interior is not fancy but does well in all the most critical areas. One of the best things is that the cabin is light and easy to get in and out of. It also has a lot of room for both front and back passengers and good visibility. A 360-degree video system that can help you get around crowded parking lots is an added convenience. The user interface is simple. The gauges are big and easy to see, and the controls are easy to use and clearly labeled. Because they are so easy to use, even people who could be better with technology can use them. Radio volume and tuning knobs are simple for the driver to reach, but passengers must stretch. Technology How good is the tech? The Camry comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa as standard smartphone integration. The infotainment touchscreen, which comes standard at 7 inches, and the optional 9-inch touchscreen are both easy to use and read. If you want, you can get higher-end models with navigation built in. With three USB ports and the option to add a wireless charger, there should be enough power for everyone on the trip. Every Camry comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ built in. It has a complete set of basic safety features for the driver, like helping the driver stay in their lane, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. We found that these mechanisms were susceptible in the past, but the ones set to go into effect in 2021 are a vast improvement. Storage What about putting things away? For a midsize car, the Camry is very good at hauling cargo. The trunk space is the most in its class at 15.1 cubic feet. Also, the opening is significant, and the liftover height is low. The trunk release handles make it easy to fold down the 60/40 split rear seat to make room for longer items. There is also a lot of hidden storage space in the cabin. There is a small storage cubby on the left side of the dashboard, and the wireless charger has a sliding compartment underneath it. The armrest in the middle also has a handy storage bin. Parents who buy a Camry will like how easy it is to get car seats in and out of the back seat and how easy it is to find anchors. Fuel Economy How well does it use gasoline? The four-cylinder Camry SE gets 32 mpg combined (28 city/39 highway), which is suitable for its class. On a typical 115-mile test drive that included both city and highway driving, we got 33.7 mpg. Invoice Pricing drove a 2016 Camry SE for more than 33,000 miles and reached an average of 29.8 mpg. Value Is it wise to buy a Camry? Even though the Camry isn’t fascinating, it is a simple, reliable, and fuel-efficient car. It lacks the features and good looks of the Hyundai Sonata and Mazda 6. But its design and texture palette is attractive without making it less valuable. Toyota’s warranties and after-care services are standard. The primary contract is three years/36,000 miles; the powertrain warranty is five years/60,000 miles. Even though it could be better than what Hyundai and Kia have to offer, most other companies are in the same situation. Wildcard The Camry is not, especially not in SE trim. Even though it can’t compete with a real performance sedan, the car is liked for how fun it is to drive. The Camry eliminates the idea that midsize cars are boring because they look aggressive. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? We recommend the SE trim level because it has a good balance of price and performance without sacrificing comfort or fuel economy. Sunroof and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are also excellent. Toyota Camry models Toyota Camry has six trims. LE, SE Nightshade, XSE, XLE, and TRD. V6 and 4-cylinder engines are available. With the four-cylinder engine, you can also choose to have all-wheel drive. 2023 Toyota Camry Video Review
