2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Overview

What’s new

  • The Sport-L style has been changed.
  • In 2023, you will be able to buy the sixth model CR-V.

Honda changed the CR-V, but the 2024 model has remained the same. As part of the redesign from the previous year, the wheelbase was made much longer, improving the maximum cargo space and back seat legroom. The CR-V is one of the best small SUVs for carrying luggage and oversized items because it has more than 39 cubic feet of room behind the back seats. A new infotainment system and a more refined hybrid engine were also added.

The most significant change for 2024 is the addition of the Sport-L trim level. It improves the entry-level Sport trim by making leather seats and an automatic liftgate standard. After the CR-V Sport and the Sport Touring, the Sport-L is the third trim level to have a hybrid engine.

Overall, the 2024 Honda CR-V combines comfort, technology, and usefulness. But competitors like the Mazda CX-50, Kia Sportage, and Hyundai Tucson have made the gap smaller. Even though it’s not the best in its class, the CR-V is a benchmark.

  • Room inside and a huge load capacity.
  • It’s easy to figure out how to use technology.
  • A ride that is smooth and easy.

  • There needs to be more room in the house to store small things.
  • The hybrid drivetrain can be loud and slow when going uphill.

What are the methods for operating the CR-V vehicle? While the CR-V does not meet the criteria to be categorized as a race car, it has a remarkable level of skill and steadiness that outperforms its competitors within the compact SUV segment. We tried a hybrid Sport Touring car from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds. That’s about average for the class, and the average 1.5-liter engine should do the same simultaneously.

When you need to stop quickly, the brakes work well and stop the car smoothly. The hybrid system’s efficiency in urban areas is commendable, while traversing high mountain slopes can be physically demanding. During turning maneuvers, the CR-V has a composed and authoritative demeanor. The handling is easy to use and gives you enough feedback to see what’s happening on the road.

How friendly is the CR-V to ride in? It’s easy to drive the CR-V. It has a soft spring that doesn’t bounce. Despite the visible bumps and fissures on the surface, the vehicle promptly resumed its customary smooth ride with no disruption.

Inside, the idea of luxury stays the same. Even though Honda doesn’t offer a ventilated option, the standard heated front seats are soft and comfortable. You won’t hear any noise from the road because the CR-V is well-insulated and doesn’t seem to let any air in while moving. The only thing that worries us about the hybrid engine is that it might get loud and annoying to listen to, especially when going up a hill.

How does the inside look? The inside of the CR-V is well-made. Both rows of seats have plenty of room, and the big windows add to the feeling of space inside the car, which is good for a compact SUV. Moreover, the extensive use of glass facilitates enhanced visibility from external vantage points. Despite the diminished rear visibility of the CR-V, it is equipped with Honda’s commendable wide-angle rearview camera.

The CR-V has spacious entrances and seats, facilitating effortless ingress and egress for individuals. Also, the front seats have a wide range of adjustment, which makes it easy to find a comfortable position. You can move them both forward and backward. The fact that the back seats can be leaned back also adds to the general feeling of comfort.

How advanced is the technology? The CR-V features a great operating system that is simple to use and responds quickly to touches, even though the 7-inch touchscreen that is essential equipment and the 9-inch touchscreen that can be added both have the potential to be superior in their respective classes. Smartphones need wireless connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The built-in guidance system of the Sport Touring gives excellent directions and advice, but there are few maps.

Unfortunately, the speech recognition system isn’t as advanced as those of competitors, and it’s only offered on the top Sport Touring model level. But the new tools that help people drive are incredible. All CR-V cars come with many as standard, and the ones that matter, like adaptive cruise control and lane-centering steering, work very well.

What about putting things away? The 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the back seats of the CR-V is a lot for a small SUV. Even though the cargo compartment is a little deep, it has enough height and width to hold significant things. The good news is that, unlike the last model, hybrid and regular CR-Vs can carry the same weight. We won’t give up storage space to get better gas mileage.

In terms of inner storage, Honda has gone backward. The centre tube of the old CR-V was cut out so that big handbags could fit. Currently, this area is just big enough for a standard centre bin. The availability of wide openings in the doors, connection ports that are easily accessible, and appropriate space available in the second row are all variables that contribute to the simplicity with which child safety seats may be installed in a vehicle.

How well does it use gasoline? The EPA says the best fuel economy for a non-hybrid Honda CR-V is 30 mpg combined. When equipped with all-wheel drive, the hybrid vehicle experiences a reduction in fuel efficiency, resulting in a mileage of 37 miles per gallon. This feature enables the driver to achieve further cost savings in fuel expenditure. The second option was chosen for our engagement. The observed fuel efficiency for the test trip was 33.3 miles per gallon.

Nevertheless, because of its predominantly highway-focused nature, it is plausible that several of its competitors outperformed it in the evaluations conducted by InvoicePricing. For instance, the Kia Sportage Hybrid achieved a fuel efficiency of 34.5 miles per gallon. The CR-V’s hybrid powertrain significantly enhances fuel efficiency, particularly in urban driving conditions, improving gas economy.

Is the Honda CR-V a trustworthy car? The CR-V is surprisingly solid for the cost. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the fact that there are no noises or rattles shows that the car was made well. Even though there is a lot of rough plastic inside, Honda does an excellent job hiding it with soft materials and exciting design elements.

Given its relatively higher price than several competitors, the CR-V may not be optimal for individuals seeking a cost-effective sport utility vehicle. The price was fair, even if it could have been more appealing, given how well it was made. The warranty is only average for cars in this class; many competitors offer better protection against rust, better roadside assistance, or free upkeep.

Crossovers aren’t as dull to look at as they used to be, and Honda’s stylish but understated design makes the CR-V look boring. This SUV is meant to blend in, not be noticed. However, while comparing the current appearance of the CR-V with its previous iteration, it becomes evident that the vehicle has transitioned into a more contemporary era.

Driving for a short duration can be an enjoyable experience due to the user-friendly controls and commendable handling capabilities exhibited by the crossover vehicle. But utility is more important. The CR-V should be appealing to people who have a lot of Excel files. It would help if you looked elsewhere to find something new and exciting in a small family SUV.

We’d choose the EX-L, just like we did with the model from the year before. The EX-L differs from the EX because it has parking sensors in the front and back, a giant touchscreen, a wireless phone charger, and leather seats. It also has a 1.5-liter supercharged engine that is almost as efficient as the hybrid and is more fun to drive.

Honda’s line of CR-Vs

There are six trim levels for the 2024 Honda CR-V: LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Sport Touring. The LX, EX, and EX-L models have turbocharged gasoline engines, but the Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring models all have hybrid motors. All-wheel drive is a choice for the first five models, but it comes standard on the Sport Touring.
